Original article: ExxonMcCain '08? Maybe not

"ExxonMcCain" sounds better..

..than "HessMcCain". And there'd be less confusion as to what the website is referencing. Some might think the Dems were making a Nazi reference, and YOU KNOW how the Rethugs would run with that one!!!

@ sonofloud

RE: GOP Party unity

Were you even alive for the 2000 election? You might have remembered the Bush campaign South Carolina/illegitimate black baby push polling.

The corollary you're looking for here is when Bush did win the nomination, all of McCain's people fell in line. You want to be more like the GOP? Vote for Obama.

BTW, You're an ass...

Original article: Why are gymnasts so young?

It also might be worth pointing out...

...before we get off on a pedo tangent, that the vasy majority of Gymnastic fans are women and gay men. Much like the vast majority of those interested women's fashion and pushing THOSE weird body issues...

Original article: I Like to Watch

"Flipping Out" is so obviously scripted!

Like its predecessors, "Gene Simmons: Family Jewels" and "Keeping up with the Kardashians", "Flipping Out" has followed an opening season of mostly naturally occurring events with a 2nd season of preposterous "set-ups" and then ask the protagonists to react to the situation.

For proof, look no further than the "Flipping" casts' cameo on "The Soup" where they enact a typical "Flipping" scene and then break character to pimp their show.

"Reality TV" will always be an oxymoron.

I'm a bit ashamed I've watched enough of this crap (not "the Soup" - that show is genius) to post this. I blame my wife.

Original article: Johnny, I hardly knew ye

Reminds me of another recent Presidential candidate the press "misjudged"

He's been running the country (into the ground) ever since.

Maybe some current media members will remember this when even they're next tempted to use the words "McCain" and "maverick" in the same sentence. But of course we all know that he's a philanderer too...

But at least he's a nice guy, right?

"...unless you enjoy watching Charles Barkley beating up skinny Angolans..."

Um, yeah. Duh? I enjoy watching Barkley beating up ANYONE!

Seriously, though: hopefully this "triumph" will inspire their fellow Americans to think about approaching problems with a team mentality (War on Terror, energy crisis, etc.) and vote for the best team player (Obama) who will inspire other teammates to greatness instead of some "maverick" (who else?) who doesn't like to pass.

Wow, THAT was tortured...

Original article: The big convention bounce

@jhkaraca

Traditionally, the party in power holds their convention last. According to Wikipedia, this practice started in 1936.

I don't care what they run for the first 25 seconds in these ads...

...as long as they ALWAYS run the last 5!

I want people to be saying "John McCain, more of the same" in their sleep while visions of him and Bush wave in their heads!

Original article: "Death Race"

So, to sum up:

It's OK to enjoy crap movies as long as there's beefcake in it?

AND THERE'S A MOVIE OUT ABOUT A PLAYMATE JOINING A SORORITY --- WITH NO NUDITY!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry. TGFP.

Original article: "Death Race"

And another thing..

There's a reason why the corporation-sponsored-violence thing is no longer used as a plot point in movies. Or do you think that people watch NASCAR cause they like to see cars driven fast or the NFL for the athleticism? Yeah, no corporate sponsored violence around here.

And again I ask: where is the gratuitous nudity? Even the "Grind House" movies had no nudity?!? Let me say that again: two movies expressly created to pay homage to 70s sleaze cinema, and not even a stray boob. It's like Russ Meyer never existed!

Original article: "The House Bunny"

Let me reiterate..

A Playmate moves into a sorority house, its a comedy... AND THERE'S NO GRATUITOUS NUDITY!!!!

This is what "The Girls Next Door" has wrought: The non-nude Playmate genre. Apparently, 80% of the GND demo is female...

My wife tunes in to feel superior to hot blonde women.

@sonofloud

I'll bite..

How exactly is Obama trying to "buy" your vote? And how do you reconcile this with the fact that "Debra" was more than likely paid for her commercial?

I'm curious about the timing of this poll

Hasn't much of Florida been evacuating for the last week or so?

As hungry as I am for the proverbial "red meat"...

...I'm going to defer to the Obama campaign for now.

How quickly we forget the calls for Obama to go negative against Hillary before the primaries. But if we look at what gave Obama his (admittedly hard) victory against an increasingly negative Clinton campaign, in the end it wasn't the words: it was the organizing.

The Obama campaign, over the course of the Democratic primaries, has registered an estimated 1 to 3 million new (and completely un-polled) voters who up until this point were turned-off by the "red meat" aspect of politics. Why drive them away now?

Obama's campaign has always been about his ability to inspire. His campaign's strength has come from its ability to stay on message: a message that has worked pretty well so far.

The media and pundits like to say that this race is more about Obama than McCain. So why would the Obama campaign want to start mimicking McCain and lose the high ground?

Come November, a lot of people are going to be sick of McCain (I already am). He has no new ideas, no plan for our problems, and no charisma to convince anyone of anything. His biggest asset is a cadre of assholes who will stoop to any level to denigrate his opponent. Next week will make that plain. And I'm pretty sure that the public will be turning the channel in droves just to get away from the negativity of a bunch of rich, white dudes who are scared shitless that their free ride is about to end.

That, plus mother nature is apparently going to remind people of one of the Republicans' greatest failures in the form of double-threat Gustav and Hanna. It's going to be sad.
