You know, I was going to be nice...
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...but then I see all the assholes continuing to be assholes, just spurned to greater heights of assholishness by their hoped outcome of the game coming true. You couldn't just say "Nice game, Tough luck, There's always next year." Nope, had to rub it in, pour some salt into the twisted knife, huh?
So, in that spirit, here are a few of my problems with this game:
1: From the moment the Pats ran that screwy trick play to start out their first offensive series, I knew something wasn't right. That, and Belichick missed 2(!!) offensive series while talking to the defense. Stop me if I'm wrong but the Pats defense played a monumental game. They didn't need anymore pep talks.
Now the part that people aren't going to like:
2. Mike Curry always makes me nervous in a "he won't make any good calls" way. He always seems to be working when I'm yelling "What the F***!" at zebras. His crew missed a blatant offensive pass interference call in the 1st Q when a Giant pushed off the face mask of his Pats defender - so blatant, the Giant looked a bit sheepish afterwards. They called at least 2 false start penalties that should have been ruled induced - you just can't jump at a lineman in a "boo" manner. And Belichick had to waste a challenge to get them to do their damn job! You know, enforcing the rules...
3. How come no one is mentioning the fumble recovery that wasn't? When the replay clearly shows a Pat recovering the ball and then being touched by an opposing player - "down by contact" - how is it possible to give the ball to other side just because the whistle didn't blow? Mike Curry is the whislingest "You can't challenge this cause I blew it dead." and he can't even get THAT RIGHT!! Remarkable, since that was at least 3 points for the Pats!
4. I don't think this changes anything for Eli (except for Thanksgiving Day conversation). You give ANY QB that many chances, one of those passes will stick. Twice Eli heaved a duck into the wilderness and twice it bounced off the hands of a Patriot defender. His horrible play was only masked by Brady's equally horrible playing and the fact that the Giants scored last. Eli still has a long way to go until he's as good as his brother, but he got one, and sometimes that's all it takes. Although I'm pretty sure Dilfer would trade that SB ring for a starting job. But then again, Dilfer's dad didn't QB the Aint's, who never had a winning season under his Q-backery (125 TDs, with 173 INTs)...
5. I love Mike Strahan. I wish he had a few more of these - he's THAT classy (he can have Ray "I would've been convicted if Lynx was on my jury" Lewis'). I wish the Mannings would get caught running a goat prostitution right - pictures included.
6. All in all, it was a Sucktastic Craptacularâ„¢, but I take solace in the knowledge that people like Lynx and Droogoy would be saying practically the same things had the Pats won. And now I don't have to be mad about it anymore. Their pathetic teams won't sniff 19-0 ever, and their miserabalism is so noxious, I wouldn't be surprised if they glowed green in person (think "Ghostbusters")...

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Now that is bitter!"
Thanks. It's fresh. Could you tell I was trying real hard?
Couldn't even escape hearing about it today: Olbermann had to remind all of us that he picked the Giants, based mostly on a belief that Eli is the second coming of Elway/Montana/Favre. Dude, I just want some pre-Super Tuesday coverage!
I wish it could be a clean slate next year. Unfortunately, scandal sells, so I'd wager this isn't the end of the cheating thing.
Wish I had wagered on the G-men. It would've softened the blow. Besides, any NE/Boston fan old enough to know the ENTIRE history of our sports franchises secretly knew this would happen. My dad lived an entire 50 years on this planet and never got to celebrate the championship with the Pats or the Sox. Of course he did get to live through Russel/Cousy era and we'll always have Bird...
Still, in an effort to be a good sport, and prove the NE-haters wrong, I'm willing to bury the hatchet and get on with life. I've got an ulcer from this season and I need to stop worrying/caring so much about this crap. Sometimes I wish we were still just lovable never-winners. I'd be easier.
Lastly, for everyone else typing the boo-hoos and saying we Boston fans aren't humble, respectful, or thankful, read my Friday letter.

"I'm talking to my peeps: the fans who are still surprised out of our god forsaken minds whenever Boston wins or does something meaningful. Cause that's what it means to be a Boston fan - never taking the successes as preordained. WE hate being the favorites. Honestly."
From a 36-year-old Boston fan who now resides in Chicago, not a 11-year-old troll on some NFL board. Boston/NE sports are the only connection I have with my father these days; its how I honor and remember him. And if that's not humble enough for you, well, that's your problem.
