OK, if you want to be all disagreeable just to disagree, at least come up with a better arguement than the TV-to-Movie adaptation of MI is better than the TV-to-Movie adaptation of DUKES OF HAZARD! Really? Quite an arguement there. One was a long-running, well-acted, engaging TV show. Another an idiotic 4 year ode to moonshine and the south (and I say this as a 10 year-old who NEVER missed it). Next thing you'll tell me that the Beverly Hillbillies didn't translate well to the big screen either.
Also, the comparison between Alias and MI is because they have the same director, who also happens to be making his first movie. Gee, that's new and different: comparing someones current work to his previous work. What a novel idea!!!!
Lastly, anyone who has seen as many Tom Cruise movies as all of the "Letter-page critics" here have will know that TC has VERY LITTLE range and therefore does best when he's surrounded by talent (Born, Few Good Men, Maguire, Vanilla Sky) or just playing himself (Color of Money, Rain Man, Outsiders).
As far as the money-making ability = acting talent, that's a load of horseshit, and you know it. You people seem to forget the boats of crap that were Days of Thunder, Cocktail, Interview with a Vampire, Eyes Wide Shut. Some did extremely well at the B.O. Others, not so much. Still crap, though.
I, for one, hope that this movie bombs because I'm soooo sick of TomKat I could just cry. Now there's some honesty.
..of a toddler son who wears outfits with choo-choos, doggies, & (rawr) dinosaurs, along with some of the better selections at tshirthell.com.
My favorites are the aforementioned "Now that I'm safe: I'm pro-choice" (c'mon feminists - unite!) and the always-hilarious-at-the-republican-in-laws-house "My IQ is higher than the president's"! There's some good baby dressin'!
Others for the misandristic posters on "Broadsheet":
"All mommy wanted was a backrub"
"Mommy/Daddy drinks because I cry"
and one of my favorites (couldn't get it - Mom said no): "Breastfed Baby - Stick around for the show".
Lighten up people. You know what offends me about some parents? Spending $100 on a BabyGap Cardigan that will either be ruined by puke or outgrown in a matter of months. Now there's a kid who'll be screwed-up by his parents!!!!
... if Dirk was fouled on his 2-and-one, Duncan was also fouled. Not saying I'm for the Spurs (although in the age of Shaq and Kobes, you have to like a guy like Duncan). In the complicated algebra that determines who I root for, the Pistons are the only team still in it that I care about. If they can get past the Heat, it should be a relatively easy finals win for them.
Isn't it funny how the worm has turned and the elite teams of the East are now the heavy favorites. Don't get me wrong, the West still has more upper-tier teams than the East, but only for a few more years (as long as LeBron doesn't sell out to the Lakers). Does anyone seriously think that the Mavs or Suns are going to be any real competition for either the Pistons or the Heat?
Finally, why is there always the one hockey dude tellin' us our NBA fandom can never compare with their awesome sport. And its always the same complaints:
1. It's just dribbling and scoring -- yeah, and hockey is just skating with sticks (admit it, you only watch it for the fights!)... long, drawn out bouts of skating bordom puntuated with 2 or 3 goals. Sounds like you win the boring title to me... or you could get to know the game and its stategies, but that would be work.
2. Too much scoring in the NBA... this one just mystifies me. That's a bad thing? When an NBA game is decided by 2 points, its a nailbiter -- In hockey, its a blowout. Once again, get to know the game.
3. The NBA players don't care... I'm sorry, but everytime I hear it, it smacks of racism (and I'm not really inclined to point that finger at anyone). Sabres guy uses the analogy of a regular season game to illustrate his point. Wow, really, benchwarmers are bored!?!? In a regular season game? Shock! Awe! Have you ever looked at the bench during a hockey game? Yea, alot of emotion there.... All you have to look at in the NHL is the RedWings latest first-round exit to see all the emotion and caring you ever will in the Hockey world. I rest my case.
BTW, I used to be a fan of the NHL. But any professional league (besides baseball, baseball can do no wrong) who thinks they can take 2 years off, change the rules so there's (on average) 1 more goal per game (how about widening the rink, gluttonous pigs?) and expect me to watch the OLN (next after the playoffs... Bull Riding! Melrose stayed at ESPN for a reason...) and not be offended has gotten exactly what it has coming to it. 5th sport status... That's right, 5TH SPORT, right after (ugh) NASCAR....
