You want the whole list or just the top ten?
..that the Lofton call @ second was correct. What the FOX replay kept focusing on was the initial tag, which was late.
If you stay with the replay a little while longer, however, you'll see that Lofton's forward momentum caused his hand to come off the bag while no other portion of his body was touching it while Pedroia maintained his tag contact.
Did anyone else see this as well? FOX kept focusing on the initial tag but, as the rules state, its the runners responsibility to remain in contact with the base until the play is over. Lofton didn't do that.
I could be wrong, mostly because FOX didn't show enough of the replay enough times to be sure (and I'm out of town without my precious TiVo) but I'm pretty sure that's what the ump saw. He was standing about 2 feet away...
Unless someone's going to throw us a bone and move the franchise into the AL West, we will always have to spend money if we want to compete with the Yanks. Be angry at them. They make it all necessary. Well, that and the soft-to-non-existant salary cap.
My condolences to the Cleveland fans. This one got away from you. It's not your fault. And guess what? Hating the Red Sox is never going to make it feel better, so don't fall back on that. It's a fool's paradise.
At least you got (Yankee loving) LeBron...
Oh, jeez, stop being so facetious. How many of your precious Indians, nay your precious Ohio State players, come from Ohio? Homegrown means farm system and you know it.
This is a stupid conversation...
Ryan Seacrest. Or Paris Hilton.
Obviously, I'm not a big fan of America's collective "culture"...
Obviously, but doesn't FOX always do that. The wink-wink comparison with Jeter (via the same #?!?) was a bit forced as well.
Funny, if FOX wanted to highlight a rookie, they could've done worse than the one who hit a homer in the 1st...
...put me in the "The Red Sox are the best team in the AL, which, by almost any statistical indicator is the better conference and BTW the Rox, apparently, think they're still playing the D-backs".
Christ, what does it take to get a little credit where credit is due? The Sox are really good. I can't wait until someone chaulks up a win to that instead of some magical rust theory.
Nobody seems to mention that the Rox are hitting .280 as a team this postseason and have only won one postseason game by more than 4 (which must have given the "tying run on deck" haters an aneurysm). If not for Taveras failing to move his hand out of the way of a strike, Schill could've put up a goose egg last night. Credit where credit is due!!
I agree with other Sox compatriots that this series is FAR from over, but geez, I think maybe the Sox had a little something to do with it. They beat the "small ball" team at they're own game last night and overcame their 2 best pitchers (nobody's gone more than 6 innings vs. the Sox this postseason). Something they did in the 2 previous series against (respectfully) better teams.
Headline: They're really good!
A remnant of 9/11, and, like most of the policies 9/11 spawned, completely useless and counter productive. AND its a shitty song...
Not that you deserve an answer:
1: The Bullpen does the "drumming" thing during all rallys (guys on base), not just Ellsbury's bats. Anytime 3 or more people are drumming at once, its going to sound tribal. As far as the one time I saw them tomahawk chop I think the were just fooling around, cause its the first I've seen them do it all season.
As far as comparing that to the institutionalized black-face that is Chief Wahoo, if ya gotta ask...
2: Yes, Ellsbury apparently believes that Christ is the savior and makes appropriate gestures when batting (barely noticeable gestures, I might add, as prescribed in the bible). Once again, a far cry from the Christian broadcasters who claim that on team is more morally "right" than another. Lately, this apparently means doing meth and getting/giving "counseling" from/to gay prostitutes.
3: You should visit RedState.com. You'd like it there.
Last year, when King unleashed his Red Sox schadenfreude column, (http://www.salon.com/sports/col/kaufman/2006/08/31/thursday/index.html) I was livid. Letters upon letters went back and forth. I think I called King a "dick" and had some no-so-kind words for a few other posters. My contention, however, always remained the same: the Red Sox were a talented team - 2006 was just an injury riddled season and if given a chance, a healthy Red Sox club could easily win it all.
As if winning a World Series isn't awesome enough, pile some vindication on top of that and its even more delicious. This is a great team that's only getting better (could I please have another double, Jacoby? Thank you!). So I guess all of us Red Sox fans ARE on our way to being assholes, but to (mis)quote a bad country song : "If this is wrong, I don't want to be right!"
Mike Lowell should be offered a new contract tomorrow. Don't know if the evil elf in Epstein's head has designs on A-Rod, but if its smart, it'll stay pat.
That's 6 of 9 that are the same. Foulke and Wells weren't on the roster in 2006 (you must be thinking 2005). Starting pitching was virtually the same if you switch Dice K and Clement (Beckett, Schilling, Wakefield, Lester returning). And Papelbon closing.
Yes the rookies were new, but then, that's why there called rookies. Drew wasn't a (overall) improvement over Nixon. So the biggest difference was the .250 hitting Lugo? And some middle relief?
And I was calling King a dick for taking pleasure in my pain, not for having a different opinion...
