A few points:

1: If you think that all Keith Olbermann has done is Sportscenter then you've missed some of the most engaging television in the past 4 years on the crimes and misdemeanors of the Bush administration. His special comment on Katrina and repeated calls for the resignation of Bush or Cheney have made him a hero to those of us who have had no media outlet for the last 6+ years

2: Chris Matthews is an idiot - what was with the 20 minutes with Terry McAuliffe last night? - weren't any of the other candidates' campaign managers available?

One more point:

RE: Hillary's huge lead:

How far ahead in polls was Dean before Iowa 2004? I hope Clinton's not counting chickens in egg form...

TomReedToon: a performance in one act

Heather: I enjoy this show.

Tom: I hate this show. Obviously you are stupid.

Heather: I don't enjoy THIS show.

Tom: I love this show. It reminds me of something from the 50s, so obscure as to be insignificant. Obviously you are stupid.

Heather: Observation on life and television, chickens.

Tom: Who cares. Obviously you are stupid. And stop calling me names.

Heather: I get paid to watch TV. Sometimes that is great, sometimes, not so much.

Tom: I get paid to harass Heather. Oh, wait, no I don't.

THE END

Epilogue

Heather Haters (as crowd): TV is stupid. Why aren't you outside during summer?

Heather Lovers (as individual): What, your computer is outside? How do you see the monitor?

Heather Haters: TV is stupid. I never watch TV.

Heather Lovers: So.. you just read articles about TV?

Heather Haters: Here's some mintutae for me to use as proof that you are incompetent. Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about!

Heather Lovers: Impressive. You don't date much, do you?

If Rove has any machinations on the current candidates...

...it has to be Fred Thompson. Thompson's campaign (as it were) is about to approach the "poop or get off the pot" phase of the election cycle and I wouldn't be surprised if "poop" is the answer and "Turd Blossom" is the answerer.

Think about it. Thompson is Rove's kind of candidate: vaguely folksy, not detail oriented, a political blank slate (for the most part) and southern. He's like Bush without all the stupid.

Rove gets to run another national campaign (something he actually enjoys) and if he wins, he will become the GOP "Kingmaker". All pols with national ambition will have to genuflect to him for the next 30 years if they want to run with an "(R)" next to their name.

Me? I'm rooting for testicle cancer, but then I'm poetic that way.

"Can you define massive support?"

Uh, yes, "anonymous", I can:

"The United States offered Israel on Thursday an unprecedented $30 billion military aid package, bolstering its closest Mideast ally.

"The aid deal represents a 25 percent rise in U.S. military aid to Israel, from a current $2.4 billion each year to $3 billion a year over 10 years."

I'm not even going to get into Israel's "share" of the 1 Trillion (so far) price tag of the Iraqi War, which was, in part, justified because of Saddam's attacks on Israel in the 90s.

I'm confused...

Could the Zionist Anonymous and the Anti-Semite Anonymous please identify themselves better? ;-)

Seriously, though, Zionist Anonymous - you asked if I could define "massive support" and I did. One third of ALL US foreign aid goes to either Israel or Egypt. That's massive!

You can play "hide the pickle" all day with what they spend it on (or where) but there is no denying the numbers. We give Israel, a "developed" country, more money than any other "developing" country. If you think that is fair and right, its not my problem; its yours.

And accusing me of being an Anti-Semite when I'm just presenting facts out of our own government's budget - well that's just sad really.

Talk about Apples and Oranges...

There's a really good reason why Canadian football and the NHL give their product out for free: nobody would watch it otherwise and hardly anyone watches (as compared to the NFL) anyway.

I switched to DirecTV because my Comcast cable would go out for months (yes, months!!) during the summer and all they would do when called is shrug and say that it was the wiring in my building (my neighbors had no problems). Of course they could increase the signal strength but that might cost them money...

So screw that, they lost my business. Yes, I did sign up for the NFL package, but mostly because its free the first season. To DirecTV's credit, they do offer many levels of packaging and you can sign up midseason if (virtually) meaningless football is unimportant to you. Or if you live in your favorite team's town.

Being in Bears country, my Sundays often go like this: 12PM game: Bears on FOX - half of the season (either home or away games, I can't remember) the CBS game is blacked out. 3PM: The local FOX affiliate switches to local Bears coverage and blacks out their second game. The CBS affiliate kicks in but due to my location and the fact that CBS lets fans "vote" (don't ask me how this works, I've never been asked) the game usually involves either the Colts or Green Bay. Seeing as how I'm a Pats fan who would like to see a Pats game sometime other than sunday or monday night AND run 3-4 fantasy football teams a season (with money on the line), the DirecTV thing has worked out well...

Add me to the list of people who used to complain about the DirecTV monopoly who now love it. And the NFL package, at $17 a week, is a steal when you factor in the driving, parking and food expenses of going to a (good) sports bar in Chicago...
