Well, THAT didn't take long...

Oldsters posting about ageism and then saying nothing good has come out since they were kids. Really? Who's being ageist (is that really a word?) now?

Yes, yes, rap (otherwise known as hip-hop to people who give a shit) is crappy, and what talet do they really have, and it'll all be over soon: has all the realism and metaphor of a skipping record - that's been playing for 20 years now!!! It's here, it can be REAL FUCKIN' GOOD, get used to it!

I think the problem boils down to this: when old people (yeah, you're old now, boomers: get over it) tune into the Grammys to see "what the kids are listenin' to", us kids are being misrepresented by people who gave the first "Heavy Metal" Grammy to Jethro Tull and gave a best new artist award to Milli Vanilli! Does that sound like an institution that knows what's up?

BTW, Timberlake is easy to dismiss but let me state unequivocally: he has more talent in his pinky finger that most posters here have in their entire body. Do you people even remember how "talentless" Elvis was to your parents? How it was to have the Beatles dismissed as "just a fad"? You become old the day you forget what its like to be young... and you people are ooooooooooooooold.

Yes Locutus...

...we ARE getting older. Difference is WE won't expect the world to genuflect and pay homage. We will (hopefully) remember that no matter how good we think we are, there were much better before and will probably be much better after. That is, if you don't bankrupt/destroy/pollute the entire planet with your ME-ness...

And you started "lumping" first, old-dude...

Just to clear it up for the editor.

The man in the photo with the "chicks" is Recording engineer Jim Scott, acording to STLToday.com.

AP does get things wrong at times, and as some posters already picked up on, Rick Rubin (some call the most important producer in the last 20 years) looks dramatically different than Mr. Scott:

Original article: "American Idol" wrong door

At least they turned bad production...

...into a bit. Fox News does the same thing with the Iraq War. Although to be more like Fox News they would have to alternate which door was locked.

Here all week folks! Tip your waitress!

General Impressions...

I was one of those people that wrote off B&tG when it first came out - partly because it sounded stupid and partly because Ashton's name was attached: God I can't stand the man (for hudreds of reasons, none of them having to do with the highly overrated Demi Moore)!!

I did give it a chance, however (b/c of my wife - she's the reality TV junkie), and found myself hooked. It's an interesting show.

Some comments on the comments (which, if you haven't heard by now, are usually more interesting than the original article):

1. I wish they had used some other colloquialism besides "geek". Everytime I hear that word, I think about the historical context and picture someone biting the head off of a chicken. Maybe its just me.

2. This season's nerds are definitely less nerdy than the last few seasons. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the kind of lifestyles led by nerds leads quite a few of them into the obesity range, and there is a noticeable dearth of fat nerds on this show. I know that no one wants to watch a fat person on television (unless they're an object of comedy), but I feel that until they include someone of the Simpson's "Comic Book Guy" stature, there's at least a touch of disingenuousness here about which nerds really have a chance at a good-looking woman.

3. Those looking for pop culture refernces of the nerd girl with the hot guy need to look no further than some of the better known John Hughes movies: Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink being good examples. Some Kind of Wonderful played around with those roles as well.

4. Yes, Tina Fey is extremely hot! I also LOVED Janeane Garofalo in her early stand-up and movie days - geek girl heaven! Does Winona Ryder count? Some girls are just hot with a triple T in glasses.

5. EP? What about good conversation and making each other laugh? Or good sex for that matter? No wonder the divorce rate is so high in this country!

6. I thank my good fortune practically everyday that I met my wife in college and never had to weather anything as horrid as the contemporary "singles" scene! Let me say it again in bold for effect: No wonder the divorce rate is so high in this country!

For the record, she was the bookworm straight-A student and I was the loner musician/artist. And yes, her EP is much higher than mine.

Right?

Could it be possible, Alexande, to enjoy a television program every once in a while AND be an avid reader of books? Not everyone is the stereotypical couch potato, my friend. You know a good way to find out what television shows you might enjoy without wasting hours on crap? Oh, I don't know, how about... READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT TV SHOWS!

It might even be possible to read a book AND watch television AT THE SAME TIME!?! What's wrong, Alexande, can't multi-task? Your EP must be for crap!

Really?

You're fabulous, your man-toys use moisturizer, and are apparently quite the success. So how come all your friends are mean to you? Must be a statistical anomoly.

Carry on!
