Yet another tour de force from Glenzilla.
The media whores are petulant, whining, little babies. As Glenn points out, they are completely unused to being held accountable for their views. For years, liberal viewpoints have been excluded from MSM discussion. Now that bloggers are elbowing their way into the conversation, these same media whores are like a remote population suddenly exposed to a disease against which they have no resistance.
Waa-waa. So they can't lick neocon boot any more without paying a price. That's the greatest development in American politics in decades.
More like this please!
No values. No judgment. A courtier class of bootlicking stooges to power. Fuck'em.
Kerr's passive aggressive gambit is a common one among the wingnuts and their fellow travellers. As frequent defenders of vicious, immoral, and unjust policies, they would love to rule justifiable righteous indignation out of bounds, since so much of what they defend is so deserving of precisely that: righteous indignation. This explains popular wingnut terms like "Bush Derangement Syndrome" and the like.
There is such a thing as appropriate emotion, and that is exactly what Glenn expresses: the moral community's outrage over outrageous actions like torture and the killing of a million human beings based on lies. If you do NOT become angry at such transgressions then there is something wrong with you morally. I'm talking to you Mr. Kerr.
Glenn's language is both appopriately emotional and, obviously, highly rational. His is some of the best argued material you will find anywhere.
Ironically, Kerr takes a stand against invective in the name of rationality and in oppositon to irrational argument. But in the process he uses his own form of passively aggressive emotional argument which falsely accuses someone like Glenn of using irrational argumentation when the truth is he has used perfectly rational argumentation -- along with an appropriate level of moral disdain that is in no way inconsistent with rationality.
Kerr uses the word "invective" but it would be better if he applied it to himself. The American Heritage dictionary defines "invective" as language that is denunciatory or abusive. Glenn's language is "invective" only in the sense that it is denunciatory -- rightly so and for well-supported reasons. But Kerr's little passive aggressive rhetorical gambit is invective in the abusive sense. He abuses Glenn by falsely characterizing his writing.
In short, Kerr is the one guilty of the use of abusive invective, not Glenn.
The regular commenters on this blog are not fooled by you for one minute, Mr. Kerr. We recognize your little strategem. People like you are far more concerned with social and professional status and sucking up to power than they are with justice and morality. Its the old "bona fides" maneuver. You note that the wind is blowing Bush's way and you prove your bona fides among the powers that be by throwing someone like Glenn, who is taking a forthright stand speaking truth to power, under the bus. Your little strategem has nothing to do with reason or morality and everything to do with personal gain.
People like you make me ill. That may be invective, but it also has the virtue of being true.
Fucking unbelievable.
At long last have you no decency, sir? Your mother and father must have been terrible parents who failed to instill core values in their son...
Its a fucking outrage.
What about the fucking children?
Retired Military Patriot said, "Restoring the rule of law will not be easy, Mr. Feingold concedes. Part of the problem is that it is hard to know how much damage has been done. Many programs, like domestic spying and extraordinary rendition — the secret transfer of detainees to foreign countries where they are harshly interrogated — have operated in the shadows."
Ot won't be easy but its not impossible. I would love to see Obama sit down with the CIA, DIA, and everyone else and demand that he be told what has happened on pain of prosecution. As President, no one would have the right to withhold any information of any kind from him. Unfortunately, I have yet to see any evidence that Obama has the balls for that kind of confrontation.
Thanks once again Glenn. These cowardly Vichy Democrats and their fraudulent concern troll bullshit need to be relentlessly exposed and ridiculed until they no longer hold any effective sway over our party.
These kind of careeerist weasels -- most of whom are angling to establish their bona fides among one group of specially interested elites or another -- have been retarding the progress of the Democratic party and the preogressive movement for decades.
