I knew it right away when he triangulated against the netroots. I ended up voting for him in my state's primary because Hillary was even more of a coward, but I was less than excited. I think "postpartisanship" is just another way of saying, "I am an abject Democratic coward who is too afraid to call the Republicans out for being the extremists they are."
I am absolutely disgusted at Obama's position on FISA and, as impossible as it is for me to imagine, I am so pissed off I just might stay home in November. Fuck all of these losers.
Not only are Clark's statements "not outraegous" they are fairly obvious. Being held prisoner is a terrible thing but it simply doesn't make you an expert on foreign policy.
Its interesting that even Steve Benen, who clearly understands this point, can only bring himself to say that Clark's comments are "not outrageous".
Forget making wild-ass inferences/guesses from questionable premises like getting shot down and tortured and what that all must mean. Let's just go straight to the tape and ask how has McMavericky actually performed as a U.S. Senator when it comes to national security?
Well, McCain supported the greatest strategic disaster in American military history -- even AFTER it had been revealed that the premise for the war was moot (i.e. no WMD).
CASE CLOSED.
McMaverick clearly SUX at foreign policy.
Compared to McCain?
Well, for starters, he didn't support the biggest strategic blunder in American history even after learning that Iraq had no WMD, like McMavericky did.
The policies McCain supported and continues to support in Iraq prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he has no idea how to protect our national security at the strategic level:
1) Wrecking our military readiness and troop morale
2) creating and training terrorists
3) losing the hearts and minds of Iraqis
4) losing the hearts and minds of the world
5) costing trillions of dollars forever lost
6) killing 4000 Americans and a million Iraqis
7) eliminating the primary power that balances the influence of Iran in the region
8) creating a new fundamentalist Shiite state in the MidEast
9) Taking the eye off the ball in Afghanistan and forgetting about BinLaden
As hard as it may be to fathom, the foreign policy tutorials he received from the Vietnamese while being held prisoner, apparently just didn't prepare McCain well enough for the kind of situations he would face if he ever got elected president...
And going beyond foreign policy to basic American principles and values: what has McCain doen to counteract the anti-American unitary executive power grab of George W. Bush? What has he done to stand up for our civil liberties?
McCain is simply not qualified to be president.
LOL.
It's possible to recover from mistakes over time. But McCain's support for the biggest strategic blunder in American history is fresh and ongoing. The record shows that McCain is an unsophisticated moron when it comes to national security. You don't quickly live down a blunder of the historic proportions of Iraq.
Remember when that ship captain crashed the Exxon Valdez and they fired his ass? George Bush and John McCain crashed our foreign policy in Iraq. You don't reward incompetence with a promotion.
The headline on November 5: Electorate To Republican Party: "You're Fired!".
"Sen. Obama has nothing like that experience in his background."
And fortunately for Obama, he also has no experience supporting strategic blunders of monumental proportions, like McCain does. McCain has FAR more experience than Obama when it comes to the world-historic strategic blunder thing. And that's why come November 5 the headline will be:
ELECTORATE TO REPUBLICAN PARTY: "YOU'RE FIRED!!!"
Looks like I hit a nerve...
Look like I must have really hit a nerve to inspire that long, complicated, unwitty story...
Holy shit, Obama released a statement on FISA and I think Glenn is going to tear him a new one. Obama just keeps getting worse and worse. Now he's weaseling on Iraq withdrawal too.
Don't blame me, I supported Edwards.
