The Iraq War Example

I think your Iraq War example is flawed. Democrats who voted for the Iraq War were not criticizing going, they were criticizing being lied to by the Bush administration and the incompetent execution of the war. Democrats who voted against the bill had no reason not to criticize, and there were a LOT of Democrats who voted against it.

A better example would be that the Democrats' vote on the AUMF provided cover to Republicans, but instead of being grateful that it was a bipartisan vote Republicans still slammed Democrats about the war.

The truth is that national Republicans will attack Democrats no matter what, and faux equivalence is a waste of time. Leave that to the Beltway.

Arrogant

"If millions of people can't seem to remember what just happened, yesterday, why confuse them with ancient history?"

That's about as stupid a thing I've seen written in Salon in a long time. The point of Salon and other outlets is to EDUCATE people who need it, not to arrogantly float above them and write to their ignorance.

Really?

"Imagine if, say, Michelle Obama, or Rachel Maddow, or Nancy Pelosi became the target of similar invective. "

Are you suggesting that they haven't been the target of similar invective? That there have been no jokes about their looks, their sexuality, their bitchiness? It happens every day somewhere on the right, whether on FOX, Limbaugh, 710 am NY, etc.

There's no deafening outcry because to cry out deafeningly every time this happens would leave us hoarse and the public deaf.

The best announcers have always told stories

I grew up a huge baseball on the radio fan, listening to Phil Rizzuto do the Yankee games and Bob Murphy do the Mets games. Both told long involved stories. Rizutto talked about his wife Cora non-stop, and we all loved Cora like an aunt. Murph wandered around stories that could sometimes last through an entire series as he told bits and parts.

Neither were huge stats guys, but both were considered the best in the business.

The idea that "men prefer stats and women prefer stories" is bunk. Stat junkies prefer numbers, but most of us just want to watch/listen to the game and enjoy the atmosphere of the ballpark.

There's no need for a separate women's broadcast of ball games. Just get better announcers who know how to set a scene and love the game of baseball.

Sure, except ...

What does "organic" mean. You can't trust the labels to actually tell you what organic means.

The you add on the question of shipping and greenhouse gasses, and all the other questions.

You need to be able to compare apples to apples, and unfortunately the organic food industry won't tell us whether what we are buying is an apple, an orange or a hair drier.

Is there anything in there that could be harmful to Franken's political aspirations?

Holy crap ...

Your link to "GTD" is to the IDENTICAL FRICKING ARTICLE??????????

I still don't know what GTD is. I'll find out, but why should I have to? Why not just write it out instead of being so annoyingly insidery?

It sucks when people in music, art, politics, finance, sports and other worlds do this -- and it sucks when techies do, too.

Standard protocol

PLEASE, please, please, please write things out completely before using the acronym. I don't know what the hell GTD means and your WebWorkerDaily link isn't loading.

Just because you are on the web and can use hyperlinks doesn't mean the standard writing protocols don't apply anymore. People print Internet pages, and sometimes links don't work.

Original article: A-Rod's "medicine"

Greenies

The players in the 60s and 70s were popping uppers and downers during games to get better performance. The players in the 80s did cocaine to get better performance (my favorite is Keith Hernandez putting down A-Rod).

The level of vitriol over steroids as if this were a new thing is ridiculous. As long as you pay people a lifetime salary for 5-10 years of work they are going to try to get any advantage they can.

It's not saying this is OK or good or moral, but these people who are SHOCKED, SHOCKED THERE'S GAMBLING IN RIVER CITY are idiots.

Ummm, acronyms?

UGC? First time you use an acronym you should spell it out. Not everyone who comes here is in marketing.
