At what point is this recognized as a defamation of character? This is going beyond the acceptable boundaries of Free Speech and going straight for destroying a public person's reputation on a personal level, with no factual basis. Its too bad it can't be called what it really is and its too bad Mr. Obama does not throw back at them all the unsavory characters these two have associated themselves with over the years. Its shameful and democrats should start fighting back in support of Mr. obama.
The hypocrisy of Mel Gibson is amazing. If he's "all that catholic" then what's with his un-christian behavior? It seems that he has chosen to "go Hollywood" and is more committed to that lifestyle than his catholic beliefs. I am proud that his wife has the good sense to divorce and disassociate herself from him. When judgment days comes, it will be interesting what happens at the "pearly gates" and it will finally be between God and Mr. Gibson. He will not have any of his fans, the media, or the other so-called Christians (that are actually worse than most "non-christians" that I know!) to make excuses for his behavior and his decisions.
Mrs. Gibson is the real story here. The reason divorce should be allowed in the Catholic church is for women like her. Why should she stay married to a man who needs more than one woman in his life?
The reason I stopped being a Catholic is because they made me feel guilty for being married to an abusive man. My desire to get out of our marriage was to protect my child. The church seemed to think I needed to stay in this abusive relationship and "make it work". This is why the Catholic church needs to change.
Best wishes to you Mrs. Gibson, and may other woman learn from you.
