Would the Real Obama please stand up.
[Read the article: Rev. Jeremiah Wright isn't the problem]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You use of Bill Clinton's statements are misrepresenting what he said as "an attack on Obama's Patriotism". That wasn't what he meant and you know it! It was simply pointing to all the slime present in the politics today. And your use of his statements is a testament to that fact.
Rev. Wright has a right to espouse his hatred for the current doublestandard in our system today. But whenever a religious leader goes off for or against a politician by name at his pulpit that is where he went over the line. I am all for freedom of religion and freedom of expression. But when you "use" your position in such a way you end up losing your credibility to your religion.
His hatred may have been blown out of proportion by the right wing, but his statements are over the top when compared to the speeches of Sen. Obama. Obama opened that door when he embraced Rev. Wright as his religious mentor of over twenty years. To revoke that now or to try to distance himself from such statements is hypocritical. What you are stating is that everything is right in the world so no one should be batting an eye to these sermons. The problem really is that Black and White people continually feel isolated and persecuted by each other. And church leaders spouting such sermons are not urging unity, but are rather pushing a stake between the groups furthering the divide.
I don't truly believe Sen. Obama when he speaks on Unity and Hope. And now I doubt him even more seeing the religious mentor he had chosen for the past twenty years. The problem is the discrepancy between the two versions of Obama... the one that chose Rev. Wright to listen to.. and the one spouting flowery speeches of hope and unity. Which one is the REAL OBAMA?
I have my doubts about any politician's speeches.

No Scorched Earth today, only Obama Surrogates Flaming out.
[Read the article: The GOP attack plan for Hillary Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The way Hillary wins this race is indeed the key point to be made here. So far it isn't as bloody a massacre as the GOP pundits want it to be. Faux News and MSNBC keep trying to portray the race as bloody infighting, but so far that is far from the truth.
The main problem to be seen out there are the supporters going negative on the candidate's opponents. For example, Gordon Fischer went off the scale in his attacks on Bill Clinton earlier. Even going so far as to mention the infamous "blue dress". And this guy is an Obama supporter? Even Obama's Spokesmen (how many this guy has I haven't a clue!) are getting into the act daily trying to make this a dirty campaign.
But so far, Hillary hasn't taken the Scorched Earth path, or as a DNC official stupidly commented the other day that she would have to go "Tonya Harding on Obama and kneecap him" to win the Primary.
This level of crap in the media and in the surrogates is the only problem currently.

Obama Supporters whining about Hillary winning in Pennsylvania
[Read the article: The GOP attack plan for Hillary Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]By the way, I have to add...
To those Obama maniacs whining for Hillary to quit. Give it up. You are simply making yourselves look pathetic and weak.
When was the last time a candidate was "asked" to leave when they were in a Primary race? The answer.. never. Some even stayed in to the convention even though they had less than five percent of the delegates.
So remember, each time you cry about Hillary still being in the race and getting more votes in each contest I will be laughing myself silly thinking how stupid you sound.

Where have all the Real Reporters gone?
[Read the article: Megan McArdle and Dan Drezner's defense of the media]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Back in the Nixon era, we had WaPo reporters pulling no punches in their investigations into the Watergate scandal. Today, we have no one left with enough guts to take on the Bush Administration. And worse yet, they are likely writing peices to cover up their incompetent acts to date. Where have all the Real Reporters gone?
It used to that situations such as we are in now were the dream of every reporter. To find that smoking gun and root out the corrupt political machine that was making a mockery of our Constitution. But it seems that they all have been scared into hiding by the Bush Administration's complete control of the DOJ and Homeland Security departments. Its likely not just a matter of weak journalistic ethics in play today, but rather a concern about being jailed and branded as some sort of terrorist by the Bush Administration. It seems far fetched, but in reality its just one step away from happening. This "don't ask, don't tell" form of journalism must end and end soon if we are to save our form of government.

Talk about bad timing...
[Read the article: Obama rules the Pennsylvania airwaves]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Joan, your articles are typically a mess to begin with, but putting it "during" an election day in Pennsylvania just made you look worse than usual.
Simply put, Obama threw good money after bad in Pennsylvania. He was already at a 19% deficit when he came into the state and if he had listened to his pollsters they would have told him it would be virtually impossible to get a win here. But of course he burned an unprecendented amount of campaign funds in an attempt to stop Hillary. But it didn't work, like you and other pundits had wished.
The basic fact is that she came out stronger in Pennsylvania for fighting a good fight from the obvious underdog position in the race. And that makes the 10% win much more than a mere number. She won that without the immense funding Obama had. She fought for that and never gave in to the pundits, like yourself, that whine and complain for her to drop out. That 10% win looks more like 25% when you add in all the disadvantages she had in this primary.
So look for more to come in Indiana and even down south. Because this is real momentum.
