@ DCLaw1

It is precisely that kind of inverting sleight-of-hand, that the interests of the highest economic elites are indistinguishable and inseparable from the interests of "ordinary Americans," that forms so much of the fraudulent ideology of today's conservatives.

After reading this, it occurs to me that folks such as yourself ought to recognize an opportunity to demonstrate a liberal point of view. That is to say - Obama has instigated the world's largest experiment in trickle-UP economics.

The people you malign above, believe in trickle-down economics, where people that have money, are the same people that create businesses and provide jobs. On the other hand, a nearly trillion dollar giveaway is touted to jumpstart the economy via spending by consumers.

This seems like the perfect opportunity to see who is right. No? What should we expect to see from such a stimulus in terms of employment, or housing, or the market? It's time for libs to put their money where their mouths are.

What a perfect description....

The paranoid spokesman sees the fate of conspiracy in apocalyptic terms—he traffics in the birth and death of whole worlds, whole political orders, whole systems of human values. He is always manning the barricades of civilization. He constantly lives at a turning point. Like religious millenialists he expresses the anxiety of those who are living through the last days and he is sometimes disposed to set a date fort the apocalypse.

of Global Warming doomists.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch... It seems you folks have forgotten about authors fantasizing about Bush's assassination. Granted though, libs are usually all talk, no action. Except for prancing personal corruption. Heh.

re: Club Gitmo

Leave it to the proto-fascists to find a way to make money off torture, human rights abuses and the degradation of America’s image abroad. --Retired Military Patriot

No. He's making money off the left's hysteria surrounding this issue, resulting in prison conditions better than any American jails. In other words, without people like you, he wouldn't have a market.

@ retzillian

all the conflicts are illegitimate right now - all of them.

Perhaps you've noted post where I said we should close the 700-odd overseas bases and let the rest of the world fight it out amongst themselves?

@ Holly

Shooter, if you would prefer to be called a bigot, rather than a racist due to the fact that there is little to no racial distinction between Palestinians and Jews.... that is fine.

Hmmm. Interesting. Would this mean I can call all the anti-Israel commenters bigots too?

@ Omooex

How about an example of legislation that COULD NOT have been crafted with the help of lobbyists. You must know plenty I imagine.

You betcha, the one currently in conference. Did any of members of Congress claim actual authorship of any part of this porkulus? Not that I've heard. That leaves staff. Do you think congressional staffs wrote legislation without consulting people involved in the areas covered, that all this just came to mind independent of industry, or anti-industry input. Maybe like the bible? No, it didn't.

As for the rest, I have to admit ignorance about Palestinians being a race. Are you really, or is this just more stupidity representative of your nationality? Heh, heh.

@ Greenwald

That is so funny, Shooter. Please write that again.

Glad you liked it.
"I'm against people that prefer to continue to provoke war rather than surrender to events, and pursue peace and prosperity for their children."

What I think is funny, is your condemnation of one war, while giving support to others.

Obviously, if a country is engaged in direct hostilities against the U.S. or allowing itself to be used to stage such attacks (as Afghanistan was), then military action is a legitimate and necessary option. Very few people dispute that principle.-- Glenn Greenwald

Then of course, we have the condemnation of Israel's response to Hamas rocketry, because Hamas is too incompetent to kill sufficient Israeli's. Tsk.

Now I could point out Saddam's refusal to surrender, or the sects refusal to surrender, but somehow I doubt it would resonate as legitimate.
In any event let's also note the parsing of my language to ignore voting my wish to withdraw from international conflict. Who knew Obama would send troops to Afghanistan? It's a very bad idea.

@ Svensker

I knew shooter was a thick-headed horse's ass, but didn't know that he was a racist.

And you have just demonstrated the cluelessness of prejudice. I couldn't tell the difference between a Palestinian and an Israeli just by looking them, and am confident you couldn't either.

I'm against people that prefer to continue to provoke war rather than surrender to events, and pursue peace and prosperity for their children.
To your next question, yes, that's why I voted for Obama.

Which reminds me, I hope he fails too. I like him greatly, but consider his policies destructive. You know, like the left's attitude about troops in the Iraq war. They loved those troops, but were happiest when they failed. Tsk.
