re: It is very important to Republicans NOT to discuss the issues.

Hardly. I'd say that idea better suits Democrats. Higher taxes, abortion as birth control, surrender as foreign policy, deprivation as energy policy, and government as nanny? Oh yeah, that'll make people want to vote Democrat.

1) The tanking economy,
As you say Congress rendered no oversight, but do you really think they'd cut off the engine of growth? Not a chance.

2) The bloody and illegal war in Iraq
Sorry but surrender is not a popular option.

3) The atrocious state of the U.S. educational and public health care systems
Hmmmm. Unions and bureaucracy are surely a non-recommendation for Government sponsored health care.

4) The corrupt energy policy of the U.S
They're really going to worry about the left's program of making energy prohibitively expensive to force conservation in the face of global cooling?

Bring it on sport, bring it on.

Actual..... brutal personality and cultural attacks. And this is only the first three pages.

Yet again, the GOP launches brutal personality and cultural attacks on the Democratic candidate. Yet again, Democrats seem determined to allow it to do so.-GG

Sarah Palin - The Trollop with a Wallop -- Jim White

Now, we have a track record of what happens when you put mean-spirited dumbasses in control of the White House -- Silverback66

Secondly, I think some of this is a game of chicken. The Republicans will gladly tear this country apart and go for vicious lies and pandering. They don't care about leaving smoking ruins. -- DragonScholar

The other factor that is striking is how stupid and immature such a huge part of the electorate is - how much they never advanced beyond adolescence with its mocking, sacrasm, shallowness, and social clicks. -- Samson141

They have clearly decided that firing up tyhe Hate-R-Us crowd is the only way they'll get anywhere.-- Paul Dirks

Her speech was brutal and vicious but it wasn't ideological. The ideological parts were spoken in code -- those who want to see it will, but those who don't may not. -- GlennGreenwald

John McCain is an eccentric, vainglorious character who is erratic in his views, impulsive and ill advised in his decision making, has questionable control of his temper and is given to meanness and personal attacks on those who oppose him. -- oninnam

That adage was proved once again by the manic celebration of Palin -- JackHughes

the republicans will literally say anything, no matter how false or ridiculous, to bolster their chances to win and retain power (and avoid criminal prosecution). Why not indeed. -- welmaker

as the Rethugs' Big Guns expectorated in Obama's general direction -- What Constitution?

I mean, they will stoop to no level to low and do it in your face without remorse. -- Awklib

your analysis of republicans and democrats reminds me of parasitology. parasites typically start off as actual independent creatures -- zzz05

Substance free

Sarah Palin lied many times in her speech last night. The repubs do not really have much choice. -- Mike Sulzer

Excuse me, what lies are those? Too lazy to list them out?

@ Bungo Pony

Judging by Different Yardsticks

On the Left and in the Center, one wins an argument by introducing the most salient points and supporting those points with evidence. On the Right, one wins an argument by calling the opponent the most vile names and generally screaming louder.

LoL. You certainly haven't found that here. In fact I'm copying commenters own brutal personality and cultural attacks as I go along, and will post theem shortly. I think. So far I'm still on the first page and have four quotes. Stand by for a lot more.

All the above was civil. Heh -- Jebbie

Yes it was. Now everyone can focus on what a jerk you are without having to wade through gratuitous language.

To LWM
Right up until that last post I was pretty impressed with your experience and objectivity.

What differentiates this convention from any other held here?

Opportunistic acting out by people who have been exiled to irrelevance by exactly this kind of behavior. Anyone here want to revisit my comment about how left-wing nuts can't be trusted to be civil?

In any event, the Republicans are thanking you today for making their case about responsibility. Dumbasses.

(AP) Protesters smash the windows of a police car during an anti-war rally at the Republican National...Full Image

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Protesters smashed windows, punctured car tires and threw bottles Monday during an anti-war march to the site of the Republican National Convention. Police used pepper spray in confrontations with demonstrators and arrested five.

Instead of the single coherent march that organizers had hoped for, fringe groups of anarchists and others wrought havoc along the streets between the state Capitol and the Xcel Energy Center where the convention was taking place.

but then we have our very own apologist....

Maybe you didn't see everything that happened with your two eyes - did that thought ever occur to you? -- GlennGreenwald

Oh brother. You're going to snark someone for the grievous sin of reporting what didn't happen? Grow up, this is apparently a non-event with some adolescent vandals wearing masks. This is what happens when you actually go out into the field rather than sit around waiting for the opportunity to criticize someone else's efforts. Welcome to the real world.
