P.S. - Sy Hersh has never said Iran would be invaded, just that the US military would bomb it. I'd put money down that he has evidence, and multiple sources, to back up his journalism, unlike Mr. Gordon.-- Redwretch

Oh really, and you think that Hersch would expose his sources just for your vanity? Yet somehow the military is supposed to reveal their sources because you think they are untrustworthy?
Here's a Hersch story about the coming Iraq war from two and a half years ago, with "multiple sources". From the first page alone we have multiple ANONYMOUS sources....

    * as one government consultant with close ties to the Pentagon put it,
    * According to a former high-level intelligence official,
    * the former high-level intelligence official told me.
    * In interviews with past and present intelligence and military officials, I was told
    * the former high-level intelligence official said.
    * the former intelligence official told me.
    * a senior official of the International Atomic Energy Agency (I.A.E.A.) told me.
    * A retired senior C.I.A. official

For all we know he made all that up. Save your money, I just did you a favor.

Bush apparently feels that it's to his advantage to avoid telling the truth, and instead to tell something else which ain't so.-- sysprog

Excuse me... Berger stole documents, lied about it, and got probation. Libby's remaining sentence is still harsher than Berger's. Bush told the truth. As always, IOKIYAD.

Congratulations, here's a kewpie doll to play with.

To objective observer it would appear that he is complicit in the crime itself. We always knew that to be the case, but I think a larger proportion of Americans will also come to see the President as profiting from criminal behavior. In the grand scheme, I think that's a good thing.

I'm sure you do, just like the Democrats crowed after the convictions of Iran-Contra. With historical perspective though, one has to wonder why Democrats from that era thought it was a good idea to support a communist regime. In fact, history has proven those prosecuted as doing the right thing, in the face of liberal fatuousness.

Libby on the other hand was just a consolation prize for the rabid. Even some jurors thought he should be pardoned. What's really funny is that you think this will damage Bush's legacy. In the eyes of the left he has already committed every crime known to man. What's another one matter? LOL.

In the end though, this episode will reflect the cluelessness of liberals to REAL theological "manichaeism". The recent bombing attempts should cripple the attempt to paint such attacks as the result of poverty, or lack of education. They were the product of fanatical irrationality.

There is a lot to criticize Bush for, but he met this aspect of his time in office with courage and fortitude. Qualities notably lacking in Democrats.
So, console yourself with "sour grapes". Maybe it will give you comfort as you watch history pass you by.

  • The real conservative back channel story is that ...

since Cheney's henchman is free, he's able to resume his role as first assistant to the Commandant. Plans are revived to nuke San Francisco and blame it on the Islamists. Bush has loyalists spread throughout the military and National Guard, that when given the word will surround Washington and keep Bush in the White House.

Martial Law will be declared and all the lefty pinko liberals commenting here will be rounded up and sent to the Superdome in New Orleans. We know who you are, and what you've been saying. You cannot run, you cannot hide. The RWA express has been fired up and it's all over but the shouting.

    Booga Booga!
    Heh.

  • If you want an example of why Democrats aren't taken seriously....

But apparently John Conyers is wasting no time having a House Judiciary Committee hearing on the commutation

Gee I hope they investigate how Berger got probation after stealing from the National Archives and then lying about it. Equal justice? Not a chance. As always, IOKIYAD.

  • How about the corrupt polical elite that let Berger steal, lie, obstruct justice, and get off with community service?

The truly amazing thing is how Libby has become the object of Bush Derangement Syndrome. Transference anyone?

  • How ironic....

-GG sums up this low dishonest decade:

"The political press -- the function of which was envisioned by the Founders to investigate and hold accountable the most politically powerful -- now fulfill the exact oppose purpose in our country. They are slavishly protective of our highest political officials,"

How ironic is it that Russert, a member of the press, is who did in Libby? More interestingly, how is it that Judge Walton would not let another member of the press, Andrea Mitchell testify, who might contradict Russert? I guess we'll never know. If only Libby had remembered that he heard about Plame from the State Dept first. Tsk.
