Shooter, I hate to break this to you, but your guise as someone who is going to vote for Obama just slipped.
My voting for Obama doesn't make me less conservative. McCain is just worse. Nor is he a conservative, as witnessed by the mortgage bailout idea. If someone wants to characterize McCain as too tightly wrapped, I'll agree. If someone else wants to characterize him as racist, I'll disagree. As quoted here...
More than 60 years ago F. Scott Fitzgerald said the "ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function" was the sign of a truly intelligent individual.
Obviously you don't qualify under that condition.
The infuriating thing about trying to communicate with these anti-intellectual, right-wing blowhards is the sheer dishonesty they have to exhibit to even make these absurd points. They sound like Stephen Colbert. They are walking parodies. The saddest part is that the true believers out there (e.g., Shooter) actually buy into the BS and repeat it! In public!-- UsedtobeKristin
Like all the hordes that have proclaimed Bush to be a Fascist? You'd better start getting used to your own medicine, you'll be getting more. Apparently you people are so self-absorbed that you don't recognize the standards of political discussion you've set for all these years.
No racism at her rallies? Are you kidding? "Sit down, boy."
Here's the problem with all this. I don't believe the reporting of said racial slurs. I CAN say with certainty that nothing racial has come from the candidates or the campaign. If so it would be front page news.
These accusations are hearsay as far as I can tell with no video or audio record in what is a very heavily documented event. Doesn't that strike you as passing strange? Then there are the numerous attacks on Palin that have petered out for lack of evidence.
Sorry but the left blogosphere can't be trusted, and until I see some concrete evidence to back up these charges, I'll go with historical precedent and consider them bogus.
If anything should befall Barack Obama at the hands of these half-wit racists then both McCain and Palin have blood on their hands.-- femme74
Half-wit racists? The only racist sentiments I've heard so far emanate from blogs like this. I've seen lots of generalities about Obama attributed to the McCain-Palin crowd, but not a single one that about race. If you have something, let's see it.
Meanwhile, assuming violence from Republicans is bigotry of the worst sort. Stop it.
And Jebbie... your fixation on anal sex is repulsive. Try acting like a real human being for a change.
personally, i think hate speech & inciting riots should never be condoned. it's getting too heated, and i've given up waiting to hear for an apology.-- beth31215
LOL. you'll get your apology right after conservatives hear one from liberals about all the invective hurled at Bush. In short, never.
For those idiots who respond Bush deserved it, right back at you about your candidate. If you want to judge people based on subjective truth, be prepared to accept it in kind. Stop whining.
What is there to "analyze" about "Kill him!" There's nothing subliminal there, there's nothing to parse.
So what? One guy in a crowd? How many times have we seen references to fantasies about killing Bush? Ben Affleck had one on National TV! Whatever ember you think you can fan into a flame has already been a bonfire about Bush. Stop whining.
(Remember the hell Bill Maher caught for saying the world would be in better shape had Cheney not survived his heart operation?)
Indeed. From conservatives. Liberals, not so much. Like the man says, you reap what you sow, and you're about to get the harvest of hate you've planted.
Does any of this posturing, speculation about other people's motives, or perceived innuendos, come anywhere near the overt racism and bigotry of the NAACP ad likening Bush to the feeling of a child whose father was killed while being dragged behind a truck?????
Get a grip people!
Welcome to the world where liberals have denounced Bush and
conservatives as stupid and brilliantly evil, greedy, traitorous,
genocidal, and imperial. When responded to as being hyperbole, the
retort is that all charges are true.
Well guess what, now that you've set the standard as "subjective truth trumps reality" Republicans are going to play by the rules as practiced. Don't like it? Too bad. You've been doing it for nearly a decade, and you're likely to hear it back for the next one. Obama is a socialist, does associate with domestic terrorists, and has the most liberal voting record in the Senate.
As for Obama's offerings in the way of slurs, isn't it convenient to avoid mentioning the flagellation of Palin. There goes that subjective truth again. But it doesn't really matter because the Junk Yard Dogs are carrying the arrows for his campaign. Like Glenn here.
Which reminds me. It looks like I was wrong about warrants in last thread, so I'll have to rely on Article 2 for Bush's authorization. It's Constitutional.
So meanwhile, back at the campaign, be like Obama. Glenn you would have had a winner post comparing Obama's more positive to negative advertising. It's productive, positive, and factual. Bashing reporters for balance when it's not in your favor just continues a pattern of mindless partisan hackery. You can do better.
And that applies even if the surveillance takes place outside the US?
As I said originally ...
Excuse me, but could someone remind me where warrants are necessary .....for calls from overseas? I thought that was resolved as not necessary, much less not a crime, contrary to what Glenn says.
And yes that's my rememberance of this from months ago.
