God, RedState is such a wonderful example of the intellectual catastrophe that is the homeschooling movement.
The fact of so many US military bases of all branches of the service being in the south has to do with two things: weather and politics.
It's a simple fact that one can do more training in warm weather with clear skies than in the midst of winter with stormy skies. The former is more commonly found in the southern United States.
Couple that with the fact that when the expansion of the American military began in 1940, the senior Chairmen of all the relevant committees of the Senate and House were Southerners - due to the seniority rules of the Congress and the one-party State that is the South - and that all of these guys were active pork barrel politicians, and it is no problem understanding how it is that American paratroopers would be trained at a base (Ft. Benning) in the state represented by the then-Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. The same is true for the myriad of other Army bases, Air Force bases and Naval stations one finds in the territory of the Old Confederacy.
In actual fact, between the end of Reconstruction and 1940, the majority of American military bases were found outside the South. So much for an "occupation."
One could more easily make the argument that the Southern politicians who created this situation were more of a mind to insure they would have access to the necessities of rebellion when the South would rise again, than that Northern politicians were planning the continued "occupation" of the South.
RedState really is proof that computers are now so user-friendly that bipeds lacking frontal lobes and opposable thumbs can use them just like real people.
You, a charter member of Entitled Boomer Bimbos, Inc., who hasn't been around someone earing less than $100,000 year in 20 years (and then only because inflation hadn't put their salaries in the stratosphere yet), are upset with Obama for speaking thr truth about the people you wipe your feet on?
You trust-fund baby entitled boomer bimbos are the best argument against feminism needed.
You're all a bunch of Goldwater Girls at heart,
Go die you worthless bumfuck.
Boy is this a question waiting to be smacked out of the park over the far fence.
Ever looked at anyGerman car in comparison to its American counterpart?
Ever looked at any German product in comparison to its American counterpart?
Of course, the geniuses who graduate from American B schools and think that quarterly average return on the dollar has anything to do with anything independently of it being a representation of the underlying quality of the company and its products, have something to do with it.
I think if we took all the business school wannabees and gave them the job their small brains actually qualify them for - cannonfodder - the world would be a better place.
Of course, what all the modern warmongers of the Republican Right don't want people to remember is that back in 1938-41, it was the Republican Party that favored isolationism and appeasement. That quote Bush used was from Republican Senator Willaim Borah of Idaho, the man most responsible for creating as many difficulties as possible for Roosevelt to aid the Allies before Lenf-Lease, whose "cash and carry" policy in the Neutrality Act he authored nearly bankrupted Britain at the time they were most in need of help during the Battle of Britain.
Let's recall that it was the Republican Party that was deeply involved in the pro-fascist America First movement, a movement that advocated negotiating with Hitler and recognizing his conquests of western Europe. These are the guys who were so anti-communist they saw Hitler as their best defense against Stalin.
Let's recall that it was Republicans like Preston Bush (Little Georgie's grandfather) who financed the rise of Hitler back in the 1920s, who did business with Hitler throughout the 1930s, and refused to give up their investments in Nazi Germany after the war began. Let's remember that Republican-run American corporations had the chutzpah to sue the United States government after World War II for the destruction of the physical plants of their German subsidiaries, companies that actively supported Hitler's war machine.
Preston Bush himself only avoided indictment and trial for treason under the Trading With The Enemy Act in 1942 by getting himself elected Senator from Connecticut.
Remind me again which is the party of Appeasement and Public Treason???
Someone is surprised the UAW would have their head up their ass in public? For anyone who does the slightest study of the history of the American labor movement, that's how they got to the sorry state they are.
The American Labor movement crippled itself the day it adopted Samuel Gompers' "economic issues only" strategy. The unions allowed themselves to be rolled by their enemies on nearly every social issue of any importance in all the years since, when the owners said "if you do (insert issue here), it'll cost jobs!!" and the unions would go run fetch the stick for ol' massa every time.
If the AFL-CIO wants to get a look at the real reason they're in such a sorry state, all they need to do is look in the bathroom mirror tomorrow morning.
What is this? The Obama campaign has decided to model their press office after that gaggle of losers who worked for John Kerry??? Why not the press response team from the 1992 Clinton campaign???
If the Republicans want to hit Obama on this one, he ought to hit McCain with Phil Gramm, the moron who created the entire financial mess with his deregulation of financial institutions back in 1996. His his wife, too, who has profited from this far more than Johnson ever did. Make Gramm radioactive for them, and they'll think twice the next time.
