Original article: Palinpalooza!

I love how

Everything Palin does is a result of prayer and instruction from God. In that way she takes responsibility for absolutely nothing. One day she is whipping halfwits into a frenzy over terrorists and Muslims to the point where the secret service becomes concerned over increased death threats to Barack Obama. The day after his victory she is asking god to bless this man. She would be a joke if she weren't so good at what she actually is capable of.

And for the antiabortion people, it's easy to curtail abortions. You speak honestly to young people about how to care for their bodies and taking sensible precautions to prevent pregnancy. But you don't want that, you just want to tell other people how they should live because if you tried to figure it out for yourselves it would be hopeless.

god may want her in the senate

but we don't. I never listen to God, myself. I listen to my one true dog, and then I absolutely never have to take responsibility if a bad decision or a stupid remark comes back to bite me in the ass. It's all my dog's doing. Right now my dog's kind of scratching her head (with her back leg) wondering why Sarah Palin doesn't worship her as she should.

Original article: Palin to speak at CPAC

it sends a clear message to me

That republicans are proud to have backward, hateful, intolerant, incompetent, irresponsible, and greedy candidates. Good for them. If I see her on one more talk show babbling her brilliance and telling the rest of us that we just don't GET HER, I actually don't know what I will do, so no threat there. I just would like it if someone would say to her, "you are lacking intelligence and compassion; you're just without so get lost." Not the GOP, she's just what they're looking for. Scary.

daughter of the american revolution

such misplaced righteous indignation you have for this poor helpless lady. I don't believe we're attacking her abilities as a mother (though we could) we're saying she's ignorant and backward and without intelligence which she clearly is. Michelle Obama is very intelligent, has common sense and clearly cares about her children. Sarah Palin seems to care about Sarah Palin only, not the residents of the state she is supposed to be governing. She can't NAME a newspaper or magazine and thinks Katie Couric is presumptuous for having asked the question! You're ignoring the facts in order to further your own unfounded conclusions.

Eighteen years ago I had a handicapped son who was then and is now in pretty good health despite his handicap. Assuming her baby is also in pretty good health despite the fact that he has Down syndrome, in the first year of life it is important to establish a care plan and get acquainted with programs in your area that can help a special needs child and the family. I can't say for sure that the Palin family is not doing these things at all but from outward appearances it does not seem to be a priority.

I hate shoveling snow

and it's not true what you said about not raking leaves all winter. I do live in the north though, because you are right about the south, but I have an apartment and never shovel or rake, lucky, lucky me.

last thoughts on snow shoveling

I do have some fond memories of shoveling snow at night and how dark blue Clinton can look with the trees and old shed in the background. But I also have some awful memories of not being able to leave my house until I got up, put on my gear and then started shoveling first the ramp and then the driveway, and I had a system for the driveway. Two parallel lines on each side of the driveway, then go back and shovel in between, and as you would go further and further up the driveway it would give you kind of a sense of satisfaction to see it getting more and more cleared, and by that time I would be sweaty and taking off my coat.

Then there was the sense of satisfaction that when it was cleared, and I had shoveled all the wet snow from where the driveway meets the road, and I could drive out and be back in the world and go over to Barnes and Noble to get a mocha, great feeling.

Then there is the last time I shoveled snow when we had gotten four feet of snow and it took me two days to clear my driveway and even then when Zack's social worker came to visit she got stuck and had to call a tow truck. That was a nightmare, but those three years in CNY were also an adventure that's over now.

The left hates Bush?

Is that why he and Cheney weren't at the Republican convention? Everybody with a thinking mind hates them. We've seen the nutjobs that love them at the Palin McCain rallies. I once heard a lady on the bus say that she was going to send cigarettes to soldiers in Iraq because there was nothing in the bible against cigarettes. I believe she must have been a republican.

I loved this

"Warm weather for what?" Public sex most likely. But of course. Thanks again.

oh expatriot

You are so, so right. And Garrison, my mother is from Illinois and you must have known her, the way you describe midwesterners. She gives of herself only to condemn. Merry Xmas.

my daughter

is 16 and a busgirl at a popular breakfast place. She served coffee to a couple of girls/women who called her a skank and giggled. There's really nothing she could do, and she still had to bus their table even though they were mean to her. You have to live in the world with mean people. People can call you whatever they want, you don't have to answer. I think the person doing the name-calling is a skank, but what can you do? Life is just too short for this kind of thing.
