  • Whatever Mr. Mike Pace

[Read the article: Is Bill O'Reilly sorry now?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

when Bill O'Reilly saves a little old lady, let me know. Otherwise you are just putting up strawmen. I guess no one should be upset about his comments. Because of OPRAH and Gang of 88 did it too! I mean, forget that he has a pattern of doing this stuff. Just forget it all. There is a difference in asking why he didn't run and implying that he enjoyed his captivity. If you can't see the difference, than I'm sorry.

    You commented:

And, other than leftychris, I see no respect or even civility offered toward anyone who tries to think about the world without looking through the prism of political correctness and victimization. I respect your opinions, please return the courtesy.

    ***

Because people aren't worshipping at the alter of Mike Pace's oh so logical and thought-provoking comments, doesn't mean people aren't offering valid points. And your buzz words "prism of political correctness" and "victimization" let me no the depth of your libertarian thinking. How condescending to the thoughts of others. But you are the king of civility, my bad.

Like most conservatives, when someone says something of which you don't agree, you run. Well keep running.

  • Why are people commenting on this review so angry?

[Read the article: "Beowulf" vs. "The Lord of the Rings"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Man, you would think Kamiya was commenting on a movie some of you made. Chill, people. Its a movie review/essay. Not a death threat. Put the scissors down! Some of the letters (particularly by anonymous) have been too funny for words. I especially like the guy who said that Beowulf wasn't suppose to be mythical because it takes place "in our world". Speaking of which, I survived my 3rd dragon attack yesterday. Brutal.

Kamiya argues that the movie fails to capture the spirit, energy, or myth of the original. I guess for some of you it is too much to expect that when a move takes the name of a classic work, that it will at least try to stay true to the spirit of the original. I mean, if its not going to even make the effort to capture some of the intent of the original, why steal the name of the original? They could have named the movie, "Guy from Sweden Fights a Dragon" and been done with it. Of course, that wouldn't have the same appeal to it... I wonder why.

Kamiya isn't arguing that the movie won't be exciting for some people, maybe even most people. What he is saying is that people who are hoping to see a film adaptation of the original Beowulf story will be disappointed. Why can't people interested in that review read it without a bunch of anti-academic, loud-mouths, screaming about the end of Salon over one article? Deep breaths, people. Deep breaths.

[Read the article: Biden calls himself "the odd man out" among '08 Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

There are more people posting for the first time on this story, than on any other story I can remember. Hmmm. Biden said nothing in this interview, except "I'm smarter than the other candidates" and "the other candidates don't get it." But he never said what HIS plan was. How can anyone possibly praise this blather. What democratic candidate is threatening war with Iran? What is Biden's solution to Pakistan?

Biden big plan for Pakistan is to make them hold elections. I'm sure no one has thought of that. That's his "strategy". But no word how he expects to implement this grand strategy. If he said it in this article, I missed it. What is Biden's "regional plan"? I mean, I couldn't even follow his point! I have no idea after reading this article what his plan is. He says nothing, but some of posters on this board praise him. Hmmm.

Sorry Biden operatives. I'm not going to his website. I don't like being manipulated by plants on Salon telling me how good a guy Biden is. Sorry, but I don't trust some of the people who posted with this article. Shapiro has been Biden's go to guy on Salon for a long time. And now Biden operatives come here and praise him and act as if we can't tell you only posted once on this website or all your posts are in praise of Biden.

The truth is this; Biden sat in all those foreign policy meetings in the Senate and came out and told all us Democrats how grave a threat Saddam was. He voted for the Iraqi war resolution. That is what his "experience" led him to do. Now he is trying to reinvent history. He had every chance to be the leader Dean was 4 years ago, and he chose not to. This regional mess, is a mess of our own creation - one he has never taken responsibility for. He did nothing but what he does best - blather endlessly. Biden is a joke, his candidacy is a joke, and the only thing funnier than his candidacy is the size of his ego. Pwwt. I have no time for his drivel.

I can see Biden sitting at home thinking, "If the people don't love me, there must be something wrong with the people." Sorry Biden, its not us, its you. It is definitely you.
