I agree that women are assimillating these so-called "lessons" and reacting to the world and men in particular in a negative way. My point is that anyone who draws their identities and behaviors from television are weak and spineless, and thus not worthy of the energy it takes to interact with them.
So let them use their kick-assery to defend themselves against criminals. Let them clean their own gutters, dig up their own septic tanks, and all the other unpleasant things that men traditionally have taken care of. I guarantee that they will reveal themselves as the phony shrinking violets they are. Exceptions will exist of course, but I wager that most will curl up in a little ball when reality comes knocking.
If society has become more crass, vulgar, obnoxious, and contentious as a result of television, what does that say about the character of the people who make up society? They're tools...nothing more, nothing less. The only thing anyone can do in defence of their own ways of living is to avoid such people and ignore them, and if necessary fight them when their numbers grow too large. When laws are passed reflective of TV, then it's time to break them in advance of abolishing them.
I am unperturbed by this whole kick-ass woman power trip that television and movies promote, except to say that these mechanisms are as boring as all get-out. I am secure in my masculinity and refuse to knuckle under to the sad pretentions that the lobotomy box assumes in shaping cultural policy. Anyone who draws such a wonderful sense of empowerment from this and can actually exult in women finally kicking men's asses merely illustrate how low a character they possess. It's all pretend, people...stop getting your panties in a bunch in either direction. If you let your masculinity be defined by a bunch of third-rate writers, you have some serious problems other than being depicted as weak. The only power anyone has to denigrate you is the power you give them. Turn off the TV, and do what men have always done...pick up a book, learn, teach, and stop letting the opinions of ignorants define you.
