What Soldiers Do

efparri, you made the point that I was going to make. Soldiers kill other soldiers - it's their job

If we are imprisoning people outside of the Geneva Conventions because they killed American soliders in combat, in a war zone we are setting a precedent that will allow any country to do the same or worse to our soldiers. Which is a terrible mistake and a betrayal of those who have comitted themselves to fight for our country.

My God!

Who are these amateurs? They can't lie for shit! I miss Ari!

Ah well

I guess that I will have to go back to entertaining myself by dividing by zero until something else comes along.

To be fair

While you would need to add on an HD DVD to make an Xbox 360 the equivelent of a PS3 from a hardware standpoint, you would need to have games worth buying on the PS3 to make it equivalent from a software standpoint.

Until games ship that I actually want to play I am holding off on a PS3 (though I know I will get one eventually).

People, People

Your civil rights have not been violated at any time during this adminsitration. You just don't know about the presidential order retroactivily revoking all your civil rights back through 2001, since if you did, then the terrorists would win.

Now please, shut up and go shopping.

Unrelated...

But it seems the FBI is raiding Ted Stevens house at this very moment.

I assume that he is outside screaming "No!" at them.

I'm not sure...

Does it actually matter whether or not his children would support his campaign? I love my dad, but I don't think I could support a run for the presidency, simply based on policy differences (and no, Al Gore doesn't have a son named Ed).

If his daughter supports Obama it doesn't necessarily say anything about Rudy other than his that his policies don't appeal to teenage girls, which is really not news at all.

Required Labeling

"because a conservative label on someone would really be an impediment to their careers."

So is being a total douchebag.

"China, said Lardy, has about $900 million worth of U.S. dollar assets"

That doesn't sound right - I think they have a lot more than that - 900 million is what, a week in Iraq, if that? I assume this is a type and would be interested to hear the correct amount.

Not to be picky...

But David Bowie (looking a lot like Jemaine), appears to Bret, not Jemaine. Oh wiat, that was picky.

I have found myself really liking Conchords - which surprised me, since I had been prejudiced against it by Jemaine's series of Outback Steakhouse ads that were really, really irritating.

It's a great show though, and I really hope it comes back for another season.

I'm guessing...

That the next journey they take together will be down the aisle. I mean really, these two need to just get a room.

Appalling

"I can't talk about what happened to me because it is classified"

That these words can be truthfully spoken by a US Citizan in US custody should send a chill down the spine of anyone reading them.

Obama Girl

It's called satire. If he's not able to deal with something as benign as this I don't know why he's bothering to run. He should ask Hillary how she explained the truly hateful whitehouse.com site to Chelsea if he wants to see what awaits whichever Democrat wins the Whitehouse.

I hadn't seen the "Obama Girl" video before this, but it's actually a very funny piece, cleverly done, and obviously menat affectionately.

If his response to an completely innocuous joke is to whine that people should think about his children and his family, then he should not be president. We have already seen over the last six years that thin-skinned whiners with no sense of humor get us into trouble.

I don't want him to put his head in the sand, I want him to respond with something relatively sane like "While I thought it was pretty funny, I had to explain to my daughter that the pretty lady just really, really wants daddy to be president". That guy I would vote for; the guy that thinks we should rethink parody because of "the children" not so much.

Where is my program?

It's getting hard to keep track of all the people we want to install in Iraq - Allawi is the one that we used to pay to car-bomb civilians in pre-war Iraq to "destabalize Saddam's regime", right? What a great guy.

Hey, isn't Cheney going to be available in a few years? He could totally take over the job.

Susan Wood

I didn't expect Cheney to actually perform the job in Iraq - I was assuming that he could telecommute from his undiclosed location. As we already know, running Iraq is a piece of cake that Dick could handle from inside his man-sized safe without breaking a sweat.

Although, that might prevent him from enjoying all the perks that Allawi enjoyed though, like being able to summarily shoot people in the head (http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200407/s1156598.htm).

You do have to admit that it might be enough to tempt him to hit the Green Zone in person every couple of months. Or at least get one of those remote internet controlled hunting rigs set up.

Hollywood Elites

What is it with Republicans who decry our media and Hollywood culture, then rush to elect actors and other performers? I mean really, with Sonny Bono, Regan, and now Fred Thompson, they seem to be much more attracted to Hollywood than they are willing to admit, or at least to the Potemkin candidates that come out of there.

Was this...

...the cause of the big laughfest at the briefing? I was getting lunch and it was playing across the room, so I could not hear what was going on, but I saw that at one point it looked like Tony was rolling on the floor. I was wondering what was going on.
