Do You Really Not Get It?

"I can't help but wonder whether her detractor's gender influenced Cohen's decision to drop the case. When the "slut" insult is hurled at a woman by another woman, so often it's assumed that mere jealously is at play -- it isn't serious, it's just girls being "catty." If a man is behind it, though, it's more likely to be taken as a serious indictment of a woman's character, it packs a bigger punch."

Why is that reasonable? Because people are more likely to think that the guy fucked the woman, and that's how he knows she's a slut. A girl? They're probably just fighting over makeup, or who stole who's boyfriend.

My Rights!

I can't wait to exercise my rights and deny your health insurance claim and rescind your policy. Good luck with those cancer treatments! You can't use that gun when you're in the grave. Suckers.

No Problems With Mine

Yeah, it would be nice to have better coverage, but it's really no worse than the Samsung flip phone I had through Sprint.

And to you curmudgeons: we don't "need" cars or agriculture either, but life's sure better with them.

Is There Any Limit to The American Spectator's Assholery?

No.

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 11:19 AM

@youngservative

Yeah, Ole Teddy! Helping to make it possible for every American to vote, eliminating racial quotas for immigration, making air travel better by deregulating airlines, fighting for equality in education, trying to make health care available to all and not just those who can afford it. What an asshole, right?

First Censure:

Rex Rammell, wannabe governor of Idaho, who joked about getting "Obama tags." Tags, for those of you who don't know, are what you buy from Fish & Game to allow you to legally hunt something. E.g., bear tags to legally hunt bears. I'm from Idaho and that makes me cringe.

@NP NP

Why do YOU look for things to get irate about? Can't you stick to freerepublic.com and simply ignore websites you know you don't like?

Seriously, how do you function being so fantastically unself-aware?

Solely

Solely government funded public option? Would she vote for a public option that's start up costs are government funded, but takes in premiums designed to make the plan self-sufficient after say, 10 years?

"Kenya and Indonesia, hmmm, what have THEY got that the CIA was interested in?"

I was thinking long distance runners and badminton stars, but forgeries -- using the principle of Occam's Razor -- is clearly correct.

@The Unlovely Truth Returns

Would you say I made an ad hominem attacked against you if I said that your comment is irrelevant to the issues raised by AK's post?

@Sonny Black

The ACLU isn't a liberal organization. Neither is it a conservative organization. (An example of a liberal legal organization would be the National Lawyers Guild.) The ACLU is an organization which primarily focuses on First Amendment, due process, equal protection and privacy rights. If that makes it a "liberal" organization to you, then . . . well, the ACLU will fight for your right to speak your mind.

"Just please stop using a no-fault term like "tragedy" in cases where fault is overwhelmingly obvious."

Tragedy is not a no-fault term. Relevant definitions of tragedy from Merriam-Webster:

2 a : a disastrous event : calamity b : misfortune

3 : tragic quality or element

That is all.

@Terry A.

Orly Taitz, I understand. Stupid and ignorant people (including "attorneys") are all too common.

But what about Taitz's counsel? If s/he allowed this, then obviously s/he has little or no experience with Federal judges.

----

Taitz IS the counsel. The order to show cause hearing is about her behavior.

Washington Post Printing Falsehoods

"The ad's outrageous and false, and what is really surprising and disappointing is that the Washington Post would run it," ABC News Senior Vice President Jeffrey Schneider told Salon.

Much more disappointing than surprising, really.

FEMA GULAG?

My paranoid, conspiracy theorist co-worker warned me about those! It's kind of nice to know that Ms. Taitz is off-the-chain crazy, and not just looking for fifteen minutes of fame.

Groceries

"That means you're supposed to walk, or bicycle, or take a bus, to make some sort of anti-car, anti-prosperity statement. Good luck getting to and from the grocery store."

That's why I choose (and I know I'm lucky to have a choice) to live in a mixed-use neighborhood so I can get groceries without driving.

Original article: Quote of the day

@Ghingis Can

"This old war horse (pig) does not have an ounce of class by acknowledging who will actually pay and who will benefit. She just keeps asking for more."

You call Sen. Stabenow a pig and then say *she* doesn't have an ounce of class? Seriously? What is wrong with you?

And to answer your implicitly posed question: America will pay for maternity care, and America will benefit from it (or do you think that infant mortality and sickly children are good for our county?).

"Lifeboat feminism" and tripe about how liberals aren't patriotic? That's all you've got?

Friday, September 25, 2009 03:07 PM

@pragma

I'm just a simply unfrozen caveman, and don't understand your strange sciences and case studies, but isn't getting a vaccine like being exposed to the pathogen, just in a more controlled setting? Isn't that the whole point of a vaccine -- get exposed to the pathogen so that your body can figure out how to fight it?

What you appear to be arguing is that people should be exposed to flu viruses in a situation where they might die because after the weaker die, the gene pool will be stronger. That sounds great, unless you die from the flu.
