Original article: Plan B yourself

Elizabeth does this a lot.

She often tries to drown out any other opinion by talking over people and raising her voice. We get too much of her opinion and not enough of other's views. And unfortunately her arguments are often very weak.

It will be interesting to see how well Elizabeth's attempts to dominate the discussion will work with Rosie.

She is also showing a strong lack of "office" savvy by talking over and interrupting Barbara Walters. If Elizabeth has high audience approval, then she is probably secure in her job. But if she doesn't and she continues to try to muzzle Barbara, then she might be looking for work.

Not too clever either.

Exactly how dumb does a person have to be to do what Allen did on this tape? Here is a candidate running for office and, in a public forum, he makes some very rude remarks to a person he knows is TAPING him for the opposition.

So Allen himself gives us more evidence of his own lack of intelligence as well as his racism.

"Politics will eventually be replaced by imagery. The politician will be only too happy to abdicate in favor of his image, because the image will be much more powerful than he could ever be." — Marshall McLuhan

Thank goodness their own arrogance often destroys the crafted image. Perhaps Allen is a graduate of the Conrad Burns School of Public Imagery.

Poor George

He is in deep Allen-caca.

I'm praying for you Katherine.

I'm praying that by the grace of God you never hold an elected position again.

Or any other position where you can abuse your power.

It's just not the Christian thing to do, ya' know.

Tough subject.

Sorry I missed the comments on the article. Apparently I didn't miss anything not reading the article itself.

But I'm glad to know that journalists can view child pornography for research. I guess. Well, maybe not. I'm having trouble understanding why you would have to see it to write about it.

It is something so vile I have trouble imagining any worthwhile reason for viewing it other than law enforcement and child protection.

And yet, I do want to protect freedom of the press.

I hate it when values conflict.

Controversy on Salon does generate excellent discussion.

I am sorry now that I did not get to read the article. I would like to know more about some of the issues mentioned in the ensuing comments.

Perhaps the article could be rewritten and receive some better editing and then the revised version could be published.

Without the sensationalized headline and picture.

Women

Webb said "...I am open to, to assisting women succeed in all the areas where that's possible." He didn't say helping women succeed. He said "... where that's possible."

Had Allen said he would help a racial minority suceed "where's that possible" we would be loudly calling him out for his racism.

It is very disheartening to know that some people think equality for women is so much less important than other social issues.

I was impressed with Webb yesterday and enjoyed his besting of Allen on "Meet the Press". I do think he has probably become less sexist. But he still needs help with his attitude towards women. A lot of help.

Still, I would happily vote for him over Allen. I think Webb could help us all as a Senator. I think he could be shown the importance of equality for everyone and that he still seems to need to examine his beliefs about men and women.

Allen has already shown that he is a danger to us all.

He knew better.

Timbuktom, I was raised in the south and I am the same age as George Allen. I also attended a southern university. I knew by the time that I was six years old that racism was bad and that no one should ever say the "N-word". I certainly never heard it used in college.

Allen's use of the word shows he was just a low-class jerk in college. That has not changed much, if any.

Bush is the Chief of Cut and Run

Bush failed us when he did nothing prior to 9/11 to stop Bin Laden. Even after being warned upon taking office. Even when warned one month before 9/11.

What did Bush do?

Bush did his own cut and run to Crawford. He prefers to be there to cut brush rather than run the country.

He might not have been able to stop the 9/11 attack --- but he didn't even try to stop Bin Laden prior to the attacks.

But, next he did a good thing. He went into Afghanistan.

Then -- just because he had wanted to since before the first election -- he lied to us and attacked a country that had never attacked us.

He moved resources from the real fight against terrorism and went to another country and started a needless war.

According to SIXTEEN AGENCIES UNDER BUSH'S OWN COMMAND -- it is Bush's own actions that have hindered the fight against terrorism and made us less safe. This is Bush's own administration that has put out this report.

Quotes from Bush:

There was no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with the attack of 9/11, I’ve never said that and never made that case prior to going into Iraq.

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."

"Now, look, I -- part of the reason we went into Iraq was -- the main reason we went into Iraq at the time was we thought he had weapons of mass destruction. It turns out he didn't..."

.

So if Bush wants to point a finger at someone who has obstructed the fight against terrorism, who has obstructed the path to greater securtiy for Americans; he need look no further than under his own cowboy hat.
