  • The "Dream Ticket" Is Science Fiction

[Read the article: And then there were two]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If Obama is even considering the number two job, he should talk to Al Gore first. Mrs. Clinton threw Al Gore under the bus during the first round of the Clintons. Mr. Clinton, and probably the Missus too, would do the same to Barack Obama. I think Barack is a lot smarter than to fall for that trap.

John McCain has got to be praying hard that Clinton gets the nomination because she is probably the only force that can unite the Repubs if/when McCain is nominated. Obama as VP would not change that calculus.

Obama as the nominee makes it confusing for the party of hate, who do they hate more, Obama or McCain, and could fracture it into pieces.

how in the world can she manage the almost overwhelming problems of the economy?

  • A Troll Filter Is A Good Idea

[Read the article: A supersize controversy]

The filter could work by catching posters who post more than three entries in a thread. If people wanted to view all of this stuff, they could use a "View All" option. If not, they could select a "Troll Free" view.

  • Hillary and the Ring of Power

[Read the article: Clinton's "win-at-all-costs strategy"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Awhile back, Sidney Blumenthal wrote a great article, published in Salon, about how Cheney et al. had created the "ring of power," and had significantly expanded presidential powers. He also wrote that it was up to the next president to reject the powers or wear the ring of power. It is ironic that Mr. Blumenthal has been working for Clinton because there is no doubt in my mind that she, like Golum, would wear the ring. Her quest for that power has made her crazy. She has sacrificed her self respect, morality, ethics and all principles of conduct of a rational human being.

  • Did the Secret Service "Drop the Ball" in Protecting BHO

[Read the article: Can Obama survive the "Freak Show"?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The following appeared on a website, http://www.discourse.net this morning:

A Dallas-Fort Worth newspaper reports that someone — the Secret Service? — ordered that security be dropped at an Obama rally yesterday. In Dallas. (Please, stop the flashbacks….)

Star-Telegram.com: | 02/21/2008 | Police concerned about order to stop screening: Security details at Barack Obama’s rally Wednesday stopped screening people for weapons at the front gates more than an hour before the Democratic presidential candidate took the stage at Reunion Arena.

The order to put down the metal detectors and stop checking purses and laptop bags came as a surprise to several Dallas police officers who said they believed it was a lapse in security.

Dallas Deputy Police Chief T.W. Lawrence, head of the Police Department’s homeland security and special operations divisions, said the order — apparently made by the U.S. Secret Service — was meant to speed up the long lines outside and fill the arena’s vacant seats before Obama came on.

    (spotted via The Agonist)

If this came from the campaign — and I hope that’s where this originated — there’s no story here except how blasé they are about security. You have to wonder if they are thinking straight. Even if it means empty seats for the cameras.

If it came from the Secret Service itself, we need to know a lot more, and fast.

The Secret Service has in the past enjoyed an excellent and largely non-partisan reputation, but this has been greatly tarnished by its role in restricting lawful and peaceful anti-Bush protesters, helping the White House hide records relating to Jack Abramoff’s White House visits, and arresting a citizen who had the temerity to tell Dick Cheney that, “I think your policies in Iraq are reprehensible” — and then fabricating a criminal charge, orchestrating a cover-up.

And then there’s a case, which has been running for eight years (!), in which almost 60 African American secret service agents allege that they were subjected to racial epithets at work and that white agents with lower scores on promotional exams got better assignments or promotions above them. Although the case is still in procedurally early stages, the judge has repeatedly sanctioned the Secret Service for failing to comply with court orders to produce evidence. Not only has the Secret Service’s general stonewalling tactics got it into trouble, but in recent testimony the Inspector in charge of producing evidence to the court, one Carrie Hunnicutt, admitted destroying documents two days before testifying despite a court order to preserve all evidence.

We really really don’t need any doubt about the Secret Service’s willingness to protect Barak Obama.

    Much ado about nothing?

  • I thought It Was too Narrow to Be Infringed

[Read the article: Who owns that offshore sucking sound?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The thing claimed looks like a Rube Goldberg that no one can infringe. Knowledge transfer does not work in a way that would include each and every element of what is claimed, irrespective of whether the transfer is local or remote. If the knowledge under consideration is so simple that it can be presented in a "knowledge transfer plan," then it probably doesn't need all of the other components claimed to be "transferred."

I think the whole concept is moot anyway. I own a small company, outside of my legal practice and am bringing back to the US all of software development work, except for the coding, which is still done in India, because of cost.

  • Scrutinize the Phony-Scrutinizer

[Read the article: What Howard Kurtz means by "media scrutiny"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

These clowns stopped being journalists years ago, if, indeed, they ever were. It is time to start a vicious campaign using every outlet possible, to expose them for the cockroaches that Kurtz and many others are. When the real dirt is exposed, it will be time to just make up stuff and load up blogs and You Tube with it. This election is too important to be hijacked by these phoney "journalists."
