-Yes, it's early. The big campaign hasn't even started. But how do you account for the tie? That's what I'd like someone to explain to me.-

Let's start with the precise wording of the poll question. Anyone have that?

Meanwhile, I am not worried. Obama will likely prevail.

The guy can withstand a withering barrage of 20-some-odd days of replays of GodDamnAmerica videos on every channel in the spectrum and and wins the Presidential nomination some 6 weeks later, for chrissakes.

    That doesn't win your confidence?

Has anyone heard that Bush the Lesser is reported to have received a blow-job from a twenty-something intern in the Oval Office while his wife was out of town at a Christian convention?......(crickets).

    -Gosh, Mr. Broder-

    Thanks for that post.

I'll continue to hope that these criminals are brought to justice.

Lying the country into a meaningless and unjustified war for their own gain only scratches the surface, of course. There is so much to answer for. Prosecution for crimes against humanity would be a nice place to start.

-Information that the fascists in charge have dug up and now use to blackmail many of them into obedience.-

And the anthrax attacks probably didn't hurt. Or was that just some kind of random anomaly mad lone-gunman scenario?

The military assault on Afghanistan was planned well before 9/11. Perhaps you chose to overlook that.

-As someone said to me the other day, "Where's the anger? Where's the outrage? Why don't the people rise up?"

    Indeed.-

The massive street protest around the world preceding the Iraq invasion did diddly. I can sympathize with the lack of motivation to hit the streets and get tasered and incarcerated for nothing.

Furthermore, since it's now clear that Bush can even gin up an excuse for an unprovoked nuclear attack on Iran (attacking only military targets as always and only generating a terrorist death-count) with the complicity of the papers and the telly *again*, and not even face impeachment proceedings.

When Bush declares martial law (the media will undoubtably come up with a nice euphemism so it's more consumable) and grudgingly 'delays' the general election that McCain cannot win, it's going to be on Nancy Pelosi's head. As though that means anything.

Does anyone believe they are really going to allow another Bobby Kennedy to take control of the Unitary Executive they have worked so diligently to create?

-There was a great piece on Broder last night on the Daily Show...where Broder accuses Obama of being too elitist, because he wouldn't look comfortable at an APplebee's "salad bar". Stewart notes that Applebee's do not have salad bars. Snap.-

    Think that was Colbert.

    An excellent post.

Thanks for illustrating just how extremely radical the US right wing has become in contrast to attitudes overseas.

Predictably, it should be noted by the Obama campaign that McMaverick and Bush (and by extension, McCain's pet weasels Graham and Lieberman) have issued nearly identical responses with respect to this decision.

This underscores what is really at stake in this election cycle as it will take an Obama in office just to maintain status quo in the Supreme Court in the next couple of years.

I suppose we can expect the shrill cry about the 'activist judiciary' in the coming days from the RWNM.

    ---911 Truthers

IMO: Those who think the US government was behind the 911 attacks are crazy.

But those who think the US government wouldn't allow the slaughter of 3000 (or 3 million) American citizens are MUCH crazier.---

What then do you think of persons that do not rule out any possibilities as to the cause(s) and perpetrators and planners of the 9/11 attacks?

One might equally be viewed as 'crazy' that would any arrive at any conclusion whatsoever in absence of a legitimate investigation, which has never been done, nor any access to any kind of evidence, none of which has never been made public with corroboration.

That would make one a 'conspiracy theorist', would it not?

  • Nose-rubbing

[Read more letters about this article: Here]

-"I think the White House got a better deal than even they had hoped to get," said Senator Christopher Bond, the Missouri Republican who led the negotiations. -

    Yeah, I'd call that a nose-rubbing.

To add insult to injury, Jim Lehrer News Hour's Judy Woodruff included this event in her news itinerary tonight. I felt ill when she segued into an interview on this subject with none other than John Boner, unopposed by a divergent point of view from amongst his peers, of course, since there is scarcely one to be found anywhere.

Can there be any remaining doubt that the majority of the Democratic party is not on board with the New World Order fascist agenda?

I keep hearing that the telcos 'didn't know they were breaking the law because Bush told them it was legal'.

An absurd joke, of course. Unless one assumes that their overflowing skyscrapers full of corporate lawyers don't have access to a law library or the innernets. Since when do corporate legal departments rely on Bush or any other president or ill-read dry drunk to advise them on law?

The telecoms, like any corporation, have enormous legal resources and don't base legal judgments on the say-so of laymen.

Let's put a stop to that incredibly lame argument, can we?
