[Read the article: Who cares if Eliot Spitzer hires prostitutes?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]-Prostitution involves the direct payment of money for sex.-
I find that distinction dubious. It would be two people being paid to engage in sex, each with another individual who may or may not be getting paid, in front of one or more cameras which may or may not be recording the event.
-I believe the legal difference is that people who act in porn movies or photos are not being paid to have sex, they are being paid for having it filmed and sold.-
And 'it' is...? They must be paid to have sex to make a sex film.
Unless they are community volunteers.

Governor Spitzer should be grateful for the nature of his own ambush
[Read the article: Who cares if Eliot Spitzer hires prostitutes?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Many US officials with inconvenient politics have died in small plane crashes. In fact, only one Republican from the Hill since WWII but several democrats.
Paul Wellstone
Mel Carnahan
John Tower
Hale Boggs
Mickey Leland
Alternet: Dr.Michael I. Niman
'When I heard Wellstone's plane went down, I immediately thought of Panamanian General Omar Torrijos, who in 1981 thumbed his nose at the Reagan/Bush administration and threatened to destroy the Panama Canal in the event of a U.S. invasion. Torrijos died shortly thereafter when the instruments in his plane failed to function upon takeoff. Panamanians speculated that the U.S. was involved in the death of the popular dictator, who was replaced by a U.S. intelligence operative, Manuel Noreiga, who previously worked with George Bush Senior.'

Serving her country just like the Romney boys
[Read the article: "The guys from the Politico brought my mom flowers"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Clearly, she is needed over here to support her father's campaign. Her talent would be wasted in Iraq and she is doing her country a great service by staying out of the military and focusing her efforts on promoting the near-dead neocon warmonger who is admittedly ignorant about economics and diplomacy and will pander to anyone with a vote, no matter how odious...
Sure, 'pimping' was a little harsh, but how far is it really from the truth....

You're out of time Junior! ....tick tick tick
[Read the article: Signs of life from House Democratic leaders]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The political strategy of running out the clock is not exclusive to the Bush cabal. Additionally, I hope that all judicial and other appointments will be blocked by Congress from now through January 2009. No more corrupt AGs or ideological judges need apply.
@ jayackroyd
-What I like to point out is that in the last five years, more people have died in American infrastructure failure than have been killed by terrorists. Hell, the I35 bridge collapse in Minneapolis killed more Americans that Islamic Terrorism. We need to get this into perspective before the summer starts.-
The official count of 3984 US service casualties alone well exceeds the number of fatalities from 9/11.

The pending indictments
[Read the article: Misadventures in logical reasoning -- and lessons learned from the Spitzer scandal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The inherent salaciousness of the story is a convenient smoke-screen in this instance and it plays much differently than the Siegleman story to the GOP's advantage.
If you are going to target Democrats for prosecution, make sure there is a sex angle for optimum results. You will get the best of both world's:
1) Sex- massive coverage, the MSM loves a sex scandal.
2) Distraction- the public, with much assistance from the media overlooks the real story. Malicious prosecutions of political enemies.

Repeat a lie often enough...
[Read the article: The Politico claims the Iraq war will help McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...and it becomes truth.
Laughably, it is Dana Perino I am paraphrasing from a recent press conference. Gawd. Talk about projection...

@ Paul Rosenberg
[Read the article: The Politico claims the Iraq war will help McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]-Twenty-eight percent of the public is aware that nearly 4,000 U.S. personnel have died in Iraq over the past five years, while nearly half thinks the death tally is 3,000 or fewer and 23 percent think it is higher, according to an opinion survey released yesterday.-
That will change soon enough because the MSM will not be able to ignore two major upcoming benchmarks. even they will have to report as news that...
1. The anniversary of the invasion on March 20th, FIVE YEARS AGO.
2. The inevitable threshold of 4000 US service persons killed, probably well before the GE. At the current rate of fatalities, that unfortunate moment is no more than 2 to 3 weeks away.

@ Cocktailhag
[Read the article: The principled, honest House Republicans]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]-Noballs....
Where, exactly, did you get the idea that Bush was opposing Islamic terrorism? Was it the Saudi hand-holding? That brave performance on Sept. 11? Or was it those socks stuffed in his crotch?
You are retarded, and I mean that as no insult to retarded people.-
Ouch. That was a rightful and withering verbal assault.
Thanks for stating that so eloquently.

A couple of notes...
[Read the article: Obama's faith in the reasoning abilities of the American public]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]@ nick
-While reading and listening to this speech, I couldn't help but juxtapose the fact that the current occupant can't even properly pronounce the word "nuclear."-
Yet no previous President, lawfully elected or otherwise, has had as much practice repeating this word.
@ Chris Sinnard
-He is so powerful he turned Sunnis into Shiites-
And back again in 30 seconds flat....with a little help from friends.
@ Retired Military Patriot
-The economy and the war are not in McCain’s favor even if people believe the war is finally headed in a better direction.-
Which they don't. CNN reports that 36% of Americans believe that the war has not been and is 'not worthwhile' and 'hurting the economy'. All correct, of course.

-And don’t forget the number of new people that are getting into politics and voting in the primaries and general elections.-
There is no doubt that this is to be a record turnout and it's chiefly because of the presence of Senator Obama in this nominating process and hopefully the general election that this is so, IMO. Sure, its also because America wants to punish and demote the GOP but if Obama were not a contender, the motivation to turn out would be somewhat muted compared to the phenomenon we are seeing in the primaries.
