-I see myself as capable of nuance, which is not to say that any of them are acceptable.-

I hear you. It always seems to come down to that somehow.

-I mean, the man has genuinely pissed off the right-wing establishment, no?-

That is true but the RWAs face the same dilemma as we do. See above. They will support McCain because only his untimely death would stop him from becoming the nominee. He is all they have. Unless, like Huckabee one didn't major in math, one majored in miracles.

Politico: Top Republican strategists are working on plans to protect the GOP from charges of racism or sexism in the general election, as they prepare for a presidential campaign against the first ever African-American or female Democratic nominee.

The Republican National Committee has commissioned polling and focus groups to determine the boundaries of attacking a minority or female candidate, according to people involved. The secretive effort underscores the enormous risk senior GOP operatives see for a party often criticized for its insensitivity to minorities in campaigns dating back to the 1960s.

The RNC project is viewed as so sensitive that those involved in the work were reluctant to discuss the findings in detail. But one Republican strategist, who asked that his name be withheld to speak candidly, said the research shows the daunting and delicate task ahead.

-His announcement today on Meet the Press, I am sure, was met across this country by millions of rolling eyes.-

I don't doubt that and I don't suggest that I am ecstatic. I can't honestly speak to his motivations but I have to admit that any curve-balls right now make me nervous.

There is much at stake and another four years of GOP control could seriously bring the US to its knees if its not there already. Yesterday on CNN I watched a portion of their financial show, In the Money, Your Money, whatever, and I was taken by the tone which was bordering on alarm. The upshot of it was that fuel, food, etc., are trending through the roof, unemployment is rising, 30% of mortgages nationally are going south and, the big one, US consumers have never before carried so much debt per capita, the factor that makes the situation so much more economically precarious for middle-class Americans than at any other time in history.

-Just walk into the White House

and arrest both of them. There is no need for the hearings dog and pony show. There is enough probable cause to fill a book, and an abundance of evidence to compel the Sargent-At-Arms to apprehend them in their offices and take them to jail.

Those who have deep sympathy for them can be assured that their heroes will make bail and escape to Paraguay and Dubai to retire peacefully and luxuriously, which was what this was all about to begin with.-

Perhaps try them both in one of those sure-fire military tribunals.

As evidenced by this encouraging article, Obama has the chops and the evidence to rip McCan't a new one right out of the gate.

-Ten primary wins in a row, and Sen. Clinton's "inevitable" win worn down to and endgame struggle.-

I believe the number is eleven in a row including the international.

-And even Reagan had been governor of California FOR AN ENTIRE TERM. Do any of you understand the freakin difference???? SHEESH!!!-

An entire term, half a term. There is a great difference?

Also, did Reagan have Obama's level of education, legal experience, history of playing gippers in dusty old cowboy movies? Oh wait. Strike that last item.

So you are suggesting 'even Reagan' was better prepared to lead the US than Obama? If that is your suggestion, it strikes me as ludicrous. Please correct me if I have misconstrued.

Rove: CBS is now the 'National Enquirer' of network news.

Thats rich, coming from a lifelong professional propagandist and political operative who is now posing as a toe-tapping hard-core RWA 'journalist' at Pravda USA-USA-USA-USA!

-Glenn: With revenues of $3.7 billion in 2005, Booz Allen is one of the nation's biggest defense and intelligence contractors. Under I know some people consider it hyperbole to compare the behavior of our establishment press corps to Pravda, and sometimes that is hyperbole. But if the Brezhnev-era Soviet Communist government were attempting to convince Russian citizens that they needed more domestic spying powers or greater benefits for government-allied corporations, and they wanted to use Pravda to achieve that end, what would be different? Be specific.-

Answer: The segment would not be sponsored by Lockheed Martin like CNN's Sunday talk consistently is.

Seriously though. Thanks for bringing this to light. Though I earnestly consider the FISA 'debate' my 'pet peeve' and follow it closely (so I thought), I was previously unaware of McConnel's ties to the telcos. That would be certainly no thanks to CNN.

Even though I have become somewhat accustomed to Bushco cronyism, this is a new low and the MSM is giving them/him a pass.

-What is stopping them from having someone, Glenn Greenwald, Marcy Wheeler or whomever, from coming on and stating these not all that complicated and irrefutable facts?-

It was not that long ago that I was beginning to see Air America's Rachel Maddow appear semi-regularly as a pundit on CNN but she seems to have moved on the MSNBC. Too bad.

Now they just invite Neocons with no rebuttal whatsoever.

Undoubtably CNN is tied into this as well and have much to gain by keeping the public in the dark by distracting them with scary photos of Obama or happy anecdotes about McCain.
