Just because Bush sucks even MORE doesn't mean Reagan didn't completely suck. Bush is just proof that no matter how bad something (Reagan) is, it can always be worse in a way you never could imagine until it happens. By the same token, there is somebody out there who is even worse than Bush. That doesn't mean there is ANYTHING good to say about Bush. And there is NOTHING good to say about Reagan. He pulled the rug out from under the U.S. Bush has now ripped out the floor. That doesn't mean there is no lower to go.

I didn't say I don't believe things like this happen. I'm aware that plenty of people are steeped in this kind of superstition. I said this letter reads like a parody, and I believe it is a total crock. The bit about the LW doing all the cooking, cleaning, etc., pushed it too far over the top.

I didn't say a word about Clinton -- YOU DID. You dragged Hillary Clinton in my discussion that wasn't about her at all. I was only discussing Obama and Edwards.

But you provided my point that Obama supporters can't support Obama without tearing somebody else down.

Because of his differences with Obama would be spit-shining and kissing his ass if Edwards would have endorsed Obama despite those differences.

Nothing has turned me off Obama more than his blinder-wearing supporters. The constant spin, spin, spin of every single fucking wisp of Obama straw into a gold hammer to cudgel non-believers with makes me sick and dizzy. Now they're beating on John Edwards.

Reading all this castigation of John Edwards, I find it's kind of comical how these objections to John Edwards being in any kind of king (or queen) making position, don't translate into any kind of realization that their hero Obama nevertheless went crawling to Edwards for Edwards' blessing. Nope, Obama wasn't above crawling, now was he? So it must have been worth something to Obama, even if it isn't to his supporters.

Heroines are -- by definition-- FEMALE. Therefore "female heroine" is redundant.

applaud his own lack of. But as far as I'm concerned, Obama's close ties to a rabble-rousing religious nutjob like Wright are no more acceptable than McCain sucking up to Falwell or Robertson. It's sickening and hypocrtical, all of it. But the funny thing is - I actually respect Obama even less for disavowing Wright's extremism, instead of standing by him 100% after hanging on his every word for 20 years. I'm sure Wright himself feels kicked to the curb. You don't attend a church for 20 years unless you DO agree with the pastor, so I think Obama is being extremely disingenous and really trying to have it both ways. Which makes him, despite his lofty rhetoric, just another pragmatic politician like any other, not a magical being who walks on water as so many of his supporters seem to thing.

I'm very disappointed in you that you can't see prostitution for exactly what it is and always has been. It is not the equal exchange of the use of woman's body, in a savvy and positive career move by her, for a sum of money offered by a man who respects and admires her for her business acumen, an exchange by which they both profit. And it never will be. No "occupation" that demeans and victimizes so many women -- that even the ones who ostensibly "choose" it as a career move (which they don't, not really -- it chooses them) -- can ever be said to profit a woman, no matter how prettily you try to dress it up. Prostitution only dehumanizes her and reduces her to the sum of her sexual parts -- which is the premise all of our male-dominated societies and religious belief systems start from and end with -- and greatly reduces her chances of ever having an opportunity to use her other abilities. If you can't see that, and apparently you can't, you are blind. But then, you are not a woman -- you're a man, and its inherent in you to defend the power group you belong to. What a shame because you're enlightened in so many other ways. But in this way you are totally in the dark.
