Best birth control ever!
[Read the article: Should you IUD?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I switched to a IUD twelve years ago after having reactions to the Pill and other methods. I have to say it was the best thing I ever did as far as contraception goes. Once it's in, except for a monthly string check, there's nothing else you have to do. I wouldn't change for the world.

Crying in my beer over their outrage
[Read the article: Mourning doves]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]How sad that white conservatives are upset that people speaking at a black woman's funeral don't like their policies. How shocked they must be to learn that black folks don't like Bush. And how appalled they must be to learn that free speech still exists in some corner of this country. I, personally, will lose 1/10th of a millisecond's worth of sleep over their pain.

Yellow Springs, Ohio
[Read the article: "Dave Chappelle's Block Party"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The writer needs to re-consider the red state-blue state comparison. yellow springs, Ohio is the bluest part of Ohio. It's not surprising that Chappelle hails from there. What is surprising is that Cincinnati, an extremely red area, close by, never declared war on it.

Oprah's options
[Read the article: Oprah vs. rappers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I do not belong to the cult of Oprah and she annoys the hell out of me when I see her show on occasion. That said, it is HER show! If she chooses not to have some people as her guests or not to promote their work, that's her call. I don't see rappers screaming about not being on Tyra's show or Bill O'Reilly's show. It's her party. She doesn't have to invite you.
Somehow, their inflated sense of entitlement leads them to believe she has to "represent" with them. Her audience doesn't include, for the most part, purchasers of rap. Why should she promote a product that she doesn't consume and her demographic doesn't care about. Whiners

Pro-lifers and Race
[Read the article: Crisis pregnancy centers: Spreading the love to poor blacks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You know the only time in over forty years I can recall being called a nigger was by a pro-lifer when I was doing escort duty at a women's center. Now they want to work in the 'hood? Why? Do they need more people to abuse?

As meaningless as yours
[Read the article: Crisis pregnancy centers: Spreading the love to poor blacks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I didn't say whether the person who called me that was white or black. You made the leap. My condolences on your mugging.

Not available to him?
[Read the article: The pastor's wife made him do it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]They had five kids together! If she had been anymore available, Madonna would be trying to adopt one of the litter!

He apologized. Big whoop!
[Read the article: The Michael Richards apology]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm sorry, but the genie is out the bottle. He can apologize, but now we know him for what he is. I'm past the "N" word part of it. I, personally, assume that large numbers of white people use that word on a regular basis. What I avidly hope is that large numbers of them don't advocate lynching as the solution to minor annoyances. That comment came from his heart. His sense of superiority makes him long for the days where dealing with uppity negras was as simple as finding a rope and a tree. Now that's hate. And it's hateful. May he sink into the waves of obscurity, never to be celebrated by anyone again other than the Klan.

How arrogant can you be?
[Read the article: "The Hair Petting Game"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm pretty sure these people aren't anywhere near where I am, but if by chance they are, they are guaranteed to get hit if they put their hands on me. How dare these people think they can just put their hands on anyone they chose cause it's cute. It's all fun and games until someone gets hit by one of their pettees.

Just a note
[Read the article: "The Hair Petting Game"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]To anonymous,
In my state, if a stranger puts their hand on you, it's an assault. I'm entitled to defend myself. The fact that I'm a lawyer, might also afffect the final result.

Clarification
[Read the article: "The Hair Petting Game"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As one of those ethnic people who routinely has people (and yes, it's always a white person) walk up and try and touch my hair, I find this patronizing, insulting and somewhat intimidating. I'm supposed to intuit why this stranger with their hand out at head level is coming at me and respond kindly? I don't think so. I have cursed people out, deflected hands and lectured people on the concept of personal space. It's not cute. I'm not amused.
Why is it so hard for people to understand that other people are entitled to their own bodily integrity? I don't see the need to be nice to people intentionally violating my personal space.
How about I won't hit anyone if they keep their hands to themselves? Seems fair to me.

anonymous
[Read the article: "The Hair Petting Game"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You don't identify as female and based on your complete lack of understanding about why this is culturally insensitive, we can guess that you aren't a minority. Both of those factors make a huge difference in how this simple laying on of hands is interpreted. Since you see nothing wrong with strangers touching you, go for it. But if black men start walking up to you and putting their hands on you for no identifiable reason, don't complain, cause clearly you're just being oversensitive.
