Giambi as the come cleanest player?!
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Are you an idiot? Have you forgotten about Jose Canseco? He admitted that he took steroids. Giambi has never admitted that he took steroids outside of Grand Jury testimony. He apologized for something, but he didn't say what he was apologizing for. So, that apology is worthless. Part of apologizing is to be sorry for what you did and ADMIT what you did.
Have you forgotten Ken Caminiti? Have you forgotten Jason Grimsley? Both of these players have at least admitted to using performance enhancing drugs. Giambi should not be getting a free pass from you or anyone else.

If it is wrong
[Read the article: Why they fight]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Then, Sam Brownback should be crafting a law in the US Congress to make abortion illegal. The Supreme Court is there is interpret the laws. If a law is seen to be wrong, then it is up to Congress to change the laws to be more appropriate or fair.
Now, how is it reasonable for the Supreme Court to make a ruling you agree with; yet, it is unreasonable for them to make a ruling you disagree with? If the mechanism is wrong when you disagree, then the mechanism should still be wrong when you agree.
One would hope that a Senator running for President would understand how government should work. I suppose it is too much to ask. *sigh*

Sure, it could happen.
[Read the article: Do you have to be gay to tell another guy his eyes are pretty?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But, I would likely preface it by saying, "This may sound weird, but you have pretty eyes.".

There is some misinformation out here.
[Read the article: More gloom for GM and Ford, more joy for Toyota]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]1) The current version of the Toyota Prius can be converted into a plug in hybrid. My version (2001) cannot. Even so, my car gets mid-40's in city driving gas mileage, which is nothing to sneeze at.
2) Conspiracy theories about stopping anything to do with cars reminds me of a classmate that claimed cars could be huge while getting high gas mileage. It was the gas companies holding things back. Bullshit.
3) Toyota is the highest selling car company in the world - they passed GM this year. So, if Toyota went up 10% and GM went down 20%, then the quote of GM selling 200,000 cars and trucks is stupid analysis.

Economists aren't any different that the rest of us.
[Read the article: The ambush of economist David Card]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]They have blind spots based on their work, too. There was a story this morning about a global currency, and the economist stated that gold has intrinsic value. This is utter bullshit. Gold only has the value that humans place on it. It is, effectively, the same fiat system that we have today with another layer of "magic".
The point is that my opinion that someone was attacked and rendered speechless could be construed as vilification by some people. When people interact, there are multiple stories based on our own, unique perspective. What could be the greatest day of my life could be the worst day for my wife while we experience the same events.

It is supposed to be hard
[Read the article: Is atheism dead?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If you were confident in your atheism, then you were no better than a person that believes in God. You are having a crisis of faith. But, in this case, your faith is that there is no God. If you posit that there is a higher being, then you have gone to the other side and chosen faith in a God. You will have exchanged one faith for another faith.
I don't know if there is a God. It is a gray area in my life, and I accept that I may never know the answer to this question. I categorize it in the same way I do with questions like: how many stars are in the universe and how many grains of sand are on a beach. There are things that cannot be known, IMO. But, I understand that people have the need to know. I have that need too, but I can mute it, for the most part.
So, what I am trying to get at is that life is a mystery. We cannot know if there is or isn't a God or Gods. And, if you derive meaning from external sources that cannot be seen or touched or tested, then it is your choice. But, I prefer to derive meaning from the people I know and can impact. I derive meaning from society and the people I love and love me. Because, in my opinion (IMO), if I am looking for meaning outside of my actions, then I am deluding myself.

Wow.
[Read the article: Flying the child-unfriendly skies]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Every time I see a child misbehaving in a restaraunt or theater (I rarely fly), I smile to myself and consider whther I was a little hellion. Children are learning, and if you cannot handle their outbursts, then you need to change your behavior. I am not addressing this to parents; I am addressing this to the haters. Have some compassion. You were small and learning once.
BTW, I don't have children, and I don't expect to have children.

Daughters or sons depend on the father
[Read the article: Pseudopsychology Today]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It completely depends on how many sperm of a specific type are created by a specific man. Some men have daughters only, some men have sons only, some men have a mix, and other men have some other variation. It is myth that one has control (outside of the fertility clinic) over the sex of a child. Unless the beautiful people are inclined by genetics to have more daughters, the analysis is seriously suspect. There will not be a social impact on having a certain sex.

Required Subject
[Read the article: "Real Estate Rookie" tells all]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Interesting stories, encognito. But, many kids can't multiply, even in classes like calculus. It is disconcerting to see how the calculator is used as a crutch and keeps students from understanding the concepts required in a particular class where it is assumed you have mastered multiplication.
It isn't just poor kids or black kids or hispanic kids or white kids. It cuts across gender and racial boundaries.
