  • The best way to reject a guy

[Read the article: If the first date isn't great, why go out with him again? ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

From my person experience, the best way is to state "I am not interested." Don't lead him on at the end of the date. Don't act like things might lead somewhere. Be blunt. I hate going on a date, then the woman stops contacting me. I send an email or two with no response. If you are not interested, state it. It will save everyone time. And, ask yourself which is better, being direct or just ignoring the guy in hopes he will go away? Either way there might be anguish, but the anguish for me lasts longer when I get no response versus knowing that she is definitely not interested.

I have given up on dating services for the most part because the return is not equal to what I pay, and I have tried Yahoo, Match, eHarmony, and PlentyofFish.

  • There is one simple fact

[Read the article: "I do not define my candidacy by my religion"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

He doesn't believe in a separation of church and state. And, this is where his religion defines his candidacy for me.

  • Nope.

I WANT to see Miami go winless and the Patriots to go undefeated. It should take care of the arrogance of Miami fans once and for all.

  • NFL teams now are weak?!

I would take the winless Dolphins of this year against the undefeated Dolphins of yesteryear in a walk. Players are stronger and in better condition than they were in the 70's. And the game is changed. Comparisons, while they may be fun, are not an apples to apples situation. Did the old Dolphins come close to breaking the passing records the Patriots could break? Brady could hit most TD passes, most yards in a season, and highest completion percentage. Amazing stats by one guy. Then, there are the TD passes Moss has caught. A team that could go unbeaten has to be superlative in several phases of the game.

Claims that the old Dolphins are superior by Mr. Morris is sour grapes of the highest order. He cannot accept that anyone could be as good or better than his team. This is a sign of an egomaniac, not a well adjusted man of his middle years.

  • I disagree rather strongly

[Read the article: The atheist delusion]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"I argue that an atheistic worldview is not capable of justifying that confidence. Some sort of theological framework can justify our trust in meaning, in goodness, in reason."

Bullshit. If I do not believe in a God, then the hope I have is for the human race and life in general. I don't need a deity to justify anything. I can look at the reality of our surroundings and find wonder and peace in the development of life. The assumption that you must have a deity is an arrogant one that is not open to other points of view. This is the prime reason why I reject organize religions, and it is why I think that religions and evolution are incompatible. Religion forces a closed mindedness that is not compatible with scientific discovery in its purest sense.

At the same time, I see atheism as a faith. It is a religion of negation rather than affirmation. The best philosophy, IMO, is to be an agnostic. You cannot prove there is a God despite the belief of many people, and oyu cannot disprove the existence of God. You don't know, and you are seeking evidence one way or another. This is analogous to seeking answers in the observation of the world which forms the basis of science.

  • Ron Paul

[Read the article: Harry Reid's pro-life stance vs. Ron Paul's ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I would be interested to see a posting about how there is a disconnect between Ron Paul's (or his supporters') position that he is for a return to strict Constitutional law versus the fact that Paul is a Christian who believes that there is no right to a separation of church and state because the US is a Christian nation from the start. In addition, I wonder about the fact that Paul does not condemn the addition of God to the Pledge of Allegiance or have any problem with government representatives coercing children to say this poem. These two basic ideas, to me, show that Paul is about the Constitution as he interprets it just like the other candidates, mainstream and fringe. So, he really isn't terribly different overall.

  • Sorry you are way off base here

Bonds was not the only one. McGwire took andro - a steroids precursor. Giambi nearly admitted he took steroids. Canseco did admit he took steroids. Others, like Sosa (who wasn't named), were suspected of taking steroids. Bonds was not the only one.

But, if he bore the brunt, then he deserved much of it. Bonds is not a nice, public man. He is a private and gruff man. He was suspected of taking steroids while he chased Hank Aaron and broke the single season homerun record. At the same time, he was aloof and guarded with the public and the media. Bonds bore the brunt of things because he was setting potentially tainted records and was a jerk.

Baseball doesn't owe Bonds an apology. But, Bonds owes all the fans an apology; yet, this will never happen.

  • Huh?!

When has 100,000 people ever been "deep and wide"? If one donor gave Hillary $1,000,000, does this mean something significant? Nope. Ron Paul getting $18,000,000 from 100,000 means very little. It is too bad that you wishful thinking about Paul has lead your down this path of delusion.

  • Don't worry about it.

I am a single man, and I have been most of my life. Would I like to have someone in my life? Sure. But, having a warm female body is not enough. I would much rather have a cat for occasional companionship. And, I guess that when I turn 40, I will not have to worry about people setting me up. But, I don't have to worry about that either since no one has attempted it.

And, I went to bed at about 10pm on New Year's Eve because I was tired. I don't see a point in going out, and I wasn't invited to any parties (probably wouldn't go if I had been).
