  • Hillary... maternal?

[Read the article: Does Hillary Clinton remind you of your mom?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

No way. And she makes no attempt to play it up. No, Hillary reminds me more of my father than my mother. Now Carol Mosley Brown, there's a woman I can picture serving Thanksgiving dinner, or even Nancy Pelosi or Sandra Day O'Connor, but Hillary Clinton would hire someone to do it.

  • Consider the source

[Read the article: Attention, pundits. It ain't over]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Yeah, you go to a Clinton rally and people say it's great that she's still in the race, like what did you expect to hear?

  • What really annoys me

[Read the article: Let's dump "Earth Day"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I can see the point of preserving the environment but I really get annoyed by environmentalists. They are expecting you to make changes in your lifestyle which in all probability will not show much results in your lifetime. And yet, they do not own up to that, instead they tell you it is fun, it is easy and once that doesn't work they start with the guilt, telling you what a slug you are for not recycling, how you are commiting virtual genocide on children when you use plastic, how human beings are just pests to the "natural" world. I think the current crop of environmentalists need to change their tune and can honestly tell people, it's not fun, it's not easy, but some day there will be dire consequences if we don't do something. It's not about hiking in the woods or sunsets over the lake, it's about having air to breath, water to drink and food to eat.

  • The last Hurrah

[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's bionic quest continues]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Yeah, this was a last chance for Hillary supporters to talk about winning the election. So, when they sober up, they are going to need to face facts. The only way Hillary Clinton can get the nomination is if she gets the superdelegates to go against the popular vote and the pledged delegate count. Is she so ambitious that she will risk turning the party of democracy into a party of ologarchy?

The votes are turning out as predicted. No suprise that she won PA and the margin she won it by but the predictions are that she will not overtake Obama in the coming primaries. It's time to put aside personal ambitions and focus on bringing change to Washington.

  • Best Suvivor season ever? Say what???

    [Read the article: Critics' Picks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Since when does a season where three people dropped out of the game voluntarily add up to the best ever? This season had too many players who should never have been on in the first place. They played up "Jonny Fairplay" in the promos but he was thankfully sent home first, after asking to be voted out. Fact is he is a one trick pony and could not even be a convincing villain this time around.

Sure, blindsiding Ozzy and then Jason after they both failed to play thier immunity idol was a cool move, but it hardly makes up for skilled players managing the game to their advantage. The tables will turn soon.

  • Just a note

[Read the article: You are the river: An interview with Ken Wilber]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

For being the "most important living philosopher" Wilber isn't saying anything that hasn't been said before. Yes, as he points out, if you haven't experienced it to some degree at least you probably are not aware of it, so it may be news. In fact these ideas have been around for eons. The only issue I have with what he said is this idea of "spritual evolution" from certain types of religion to more advanced stages. This would be correct describing an individual who can go through these levels, but to say that human cultures are more spiritually advanced than they were thousands of years ago is just arrogance. The fact is that civilization (state level societies, written language, division of labor etc.) although a great cultural advance has probably set us back significantly in our spiritual development.

  • What kind of president?

[Read the article: Dean: "We really can't have a divided convention"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And if Hillary Clinton feels it is her right to defy the popular vote and pledged delegate count and secure the nomination by back room dealing with the superdelgates, I have to wonder what kind of president would we have who puts her personal ambition above the will of the people.

If she cannot secure an unprecedented sweep in the next few primaries and come close to Obama's delgate count, she needs to bow out as soon as possible and focus on defeating John McCain.

  • Ho-hum

[Read the article: When Democrats chase Hoosiers and Region Rats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The facts are these: 1. The Indiana primary will not make one lick of difference in this race. 2. Indiana will vote Republican in November.

No, I don't think it is doing any good to prolong this primary. Indiana gets a week in the sun... whoopdie doo! Is that going to make any difference to anything? No. Is the press going to report on any real issues in this campaign. No way. Are the people getting sick and tired of this needlessly long primary. YES!

  • Why did Obama join

[Read the article: The return of the Rev. Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

When Obama joined Trinity he wasn't looking for the "blackest" black church. First of all, Trinity is part of United Church of Christ (formerly Congregationalist) which quite literally came over on the Mayflower. Second, Trinity, and Rev. Wright preaches a liberal social gospel well in line with Obama's thinking. Rev. Wright, in fact has been very supportive of gay rights among the black religious community and has never spoken any bigotry about any group the way so many pastors who support the republicans have.

The fact is that Rev. Wright will continue being a preacher and that means not mincing words and speaking the truth. If you read the Bible you will see that the prophets and Jesus himself said things that got the powers that be very riled up.

  • A cheap ploy

[Read the article: I was wrong about Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Joan, I've stopped reading your column, at least until the absurd primary is over. That headline was really nasty, got me to read it. I just hope it wasn't your idea to lure in all the people who are tired of your Obama bashing.
