Original article: Years of magical thinking

At last someone else thinks Burroughs is a hack!

Augusten Burrough's memoir has to be the one of the most revolting books I have ever read, and I'm not squeamish. After reading Priya Jain's review I know why I was so disgusted. Not only is it written badly, but it is most likely completely made up. Another example of this new genre aside from A Child Called It, is Jeannette Walls The Glass Castle, which by the end I was moaning out loud, "She made this up!" By the end of The Glass Castle I was left hating Jeannette Walls for her smug assuredness in her superiority. She and all of her remarkable siblings (with the exception of one)made it out of a dead-end holler and made it big in New York City. Mind you, none of them had ever had vaccinations, been ever been to school, were never fed properly as children, or had any kind parental oversight, yet they managed to get impressive degrees, fabulous jobs, and of course beautiful Hamptons homes. Yes, you can vomit now.

I chalk up all the popularity with these made up navel staring childhood memoirs to Reality TV. It's voyeuristic, it's NOT real, and it's trashy. None of these authors will end up in the literary cannon, just as Reality TV won't end up being regarded as film art.

Jewish Leaders finally find their voice and speak up against the Christian Wingnuts.

I'm so glad to finally read someone give voice to the disturbing alliance between the Evangelical Christian Facist Right and the Jewish Establisment. Forfeiting the Bill of Rights, and everything that makes America free just to get "support" for Israel is self-defeating. What makes you think that once the Wingnuts have Christianized America that they will stop there? They would love to Christianize Israel and the rest of the middle east. After all the only reason they even support Israel is because it fits into their doomsday scenario where they all go to heaven and the jews and other non-Christians burn in a sea of fire. What kind of friendship is that really? It's about time Jewish Leaders step up to the plate and not kow tow to these fanatics that want to destroy freedom of religion in America, and who knows where else. I understand that some Jews feel they have to support Israel at all costs, however should that cost include your own freedom in the country you actually live in?

Michael Schiavo

I wish Michael all the luck and success in the world for his newly formed PAC and I urge everyone who see's the GOP bible beaters for the hypocrites they really are to donate. The "Christian" clowns in congress are not real Christians. Just what kind of Christian lets millions of American children go without access to medical care? What kind of Christian gives tax cuts to billionaires while denying an out of work pregnant woman pre-natal care? What kind of Christian cuts money from meals on wheels for the elderly? What kind of Christian starts bloody wars? What kind of Christian leaves people stranded and dying in New Orleans? Just where in the New Testament does it say that Jesus is Pro-war and Pro-rich? These "Christians" in congress don't support a culture of life;they support a culture of corruption, greed, and depravity.

Original article: You don't know Jack?

Jack is for nitwits

I love the idea of a random playlist, however Jack is not really that random. Do I hear a Frank Sinatra tune followed by Leon Russell? Do I really hear anything I haven't heard a million times already on one station or another? No, instead Jack pretends to be random by shuffling the same old reycled top forty hits of the 70's, 80's, 90's etc...How many more times can we hear the Bee Gees, Cindy Lauper, Duran Duran, Led Zeppelin....yada yada yada. You know who is truly random? Jonathon Schwartz. He is the ONLY DJ who is capable of suprising me and delighting me. Just when you think you have him pegged he will play something you don't expect. Jack is for nitwits.

Original article: The beef over pet food

With everything that's going on why is Salon's cover story about a bunch of self-absorbed twits?

Why on earth has Salon chosen a story such as this for it's cover today? These people are the most self-absorbed childless yuppies I've ever read about. Do I care that people choose to feed their animals raw meat? No. I doubt most of us care.

I have met these fanatics about their pets, and all I can say is that they are extremists. Think of the Taliban of the pet world.

Original article: Talkin' bout my generation

Boomers are nothing more than a narciscistic target market group

Get over your damn generation Baby Boomers, you weren't that great.

You were a target market group. That's all. Simply put, there are more of you than there are of us, hence all the attention your group has and usually gets. My generation is considered the Baby Bust, and when I was in grade school, your generation usually voted down your local school taxes resulting in shorter days, and no extra curricular classes, such as gym, music, or art...everything your spoiled generation got. So, while the me me me generation were reading their bio-rhythms, doing the bump, getting therapy, smoking pot, discovering themselves in multiple sex partners we were getting shafted by crappy public schools, and raising ourselves while our divorced boomer parents were out fulfilling their inner children, all the while waiting for the ultimate shaft...the Reagan years. You, yes you boomers gave us Reagan, the man that declared Ketchup a vegetable in our school lunches. After you were through with all that liberal, universal, anything goes lifestyle you turned into selfish yuppies who suddenly embraced supply side economics and the trickle down theory. BTW, thanks a hell of lot for the wonderful Neo-Cons you installed in the White House and the wonderful Right Wing Think Tanks that gave us megalomaniacs like Paul Wolfowitz and Douglas Feith.
