The frothing Bozell continues: "Liberals don't believe in free exchange, tolerance, or the marketplace of ideas. They believe in the iron boot of liberalism stamping out any view that upsets the liberal apple cart."

The iron boot of liberalism....?! Yeah, it's, it's, it's, look at all of the tattoos people have....it's cuz of the iron boot of liberalism....it's been a blight upon the world...
McCain tried to play three sides. He spoke out against Bush, and actually sided with the dems when it was verbotten. Most namely on torture...ya gotta torture those terrorists...that smote him from the list of Bushies. The dems/progressives liked him precisely because he stood up on the side of what was right...but then he didn't. So he lost the dems and the independents. He is not who he was 7 years ago.
Greenwald do you never sleep? So many issues you sift through and nail with biting insight. You're point is very well taken. Congress and the media needs to start laying the groundwork for not using Patraeus' September report as the sole indicator of the status of Iraq, although it will be a hell of a piece of propoganda if he can sell blue skies...some kind of Army War College commission, or perhaps the Iraq Study Group to provide an assessment of Patraeus' assessment....
We are so freaking clueless. How did America come to this? This seems very logical to me, our whole strategy of arming the locals to fight against us....:

This level to which the right wingers will stoop to defend what? They are losing their sanity. How on earth can they possibly attack this kid? And why? Their defensive mechanisms kick in and don't allow them to process information. They have too much invested there is no turning back....so they plunge on, madly....
But I'm trying to figure out Novak's Op ed today. It's over my head. I want your take baby....
They aren't arguing a point, they are towing a line. Thanks for a great article.
Thanks, I guess, for that interview with John Bolton....good grief....what a piece of work....despite all of Bush's failures, it still is mind-blowing he appointed that clown as Ambassador to the UN....So much to raise ones blood pressure.
When the interviewer asks him how he can deny that Iraq has done great damage to our ability to deal with rogue states that actually do pose a threat Bolton blames it on the "faint hearts" in Europe, and "even some in DC" that have allowed themselves to be intimidated by the claims of those countries...."BUT IT HASN'T INTIMIDATED ME" he says. God these guys are so playground bully mentality....how did we put them in charge TWICE?
Shooter...are you paid to monitor Glenn? You think his wisdom would be sinking in by now....By the way, he blasts the dems all of the time for their inability to force change...
Got a creepy feeling reading this....if we had read this five years ago...would we be shocked?
Thanks yet again Glenn. The Webb bill will show, once and for all, who supports the troops and who doesn't. Regardless of where you stand on the war, if you are not an egocentric idiot, it's the right thing to do. And through your work, and the committment of others like Senator Webb, the chickenhawks won't be ruling the roost much longer - the military is switching parties. If we can only keep them out of Iran...the country might come out of this abyss...
Glenn - I am continually astounded by your ability to see through all the smoke and mirrors and nail issues with fact upon fact. One thing you didn't mention but has caused me concern regarding Sen. Feinstein is her anti-Palestinian record...
How did we allow such utter ineptitude to rule this land for almost a decade? My God, when will we say enough? Or is everyone in DC just resigned to the fact we are at the mercy of the Cheney/Rice struggle for Bush's favor? I hope there is a plan for somebody to say no when the simplistic, third grade playground rule-based foreign policy goes too far....again?
Of preventing the Confederacy of Dunces from totally screwing the country and the ME before they leave office? Cheney needs to be impeached. Now.
Ahmadinejad is surely a divisive figure and certainly wrong in many of his views, and the crimes against humanity he allows to occur in his country are appalling. But the fact that we chose to wage war in a country neighboring his, and the fact that we have refused to cease our dependence on the resources of the ME, have made him pivotal to our fate as a nation. So deal with him we must. And frankly, I appreciate the opportunity to hear his views uncensored by our State Department. Not listening doesn't make him go away. Denouncing him as "evil" doesn't either. We need to rationally argue against his nonsense...e.g., the denial of the holocaust, and provide a reasoned response to his legitimate concerns. And misportraying what he says is not helpful at all....
For example, he doesn't support the annihilation of the Jewish people. He supports the end of the country of Israel....these are two different issues. There are legitimate arguments that the establishment of the nation of Israel on Palestinian lands, however well intentioned, was a mistake. And legitimate arguments that it was, indeed justified. And that we can't go back...we need to move forward. To misportray his position as advocating the annihilation of the Jewish people is inaccurate and we will never win the debate outside of those who bought the misportrayal of his statements.
