  • McCain " Brain Farts "

[Read the article: McCain's repeated "slips of the tongue" on Iran and al-Qaida]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

George Bush is an imbecile. John Mc Cain is his equal. Voting for McCain yields 4 more years of George Bush... Good Luck !!!

  • "Patriotic " Hysteria

[Read the article: Rev. Jeremiah Wright isn't the problem]

Great article..and for the most part I agree... Right on !

  • Puppet Government plus Mercenaries

[Read the article: Why al-Maliki attacked Basra]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

To me it is clear that the current Iraqi government is truly a puppet government essentially put in place by the Bush administration..and if and when we ever leave that country, it will truly dissolve as quickly as an ice cube on the desert sand. And the so called Iraqi army is essentially a collection of Iraqi mercenaries who's hearts are just not in it. Absent the Americans and a steady paycheck.. or put in a situation where they are fighting their kind, they will drift quietly into the night.. and probably reappear on the other side. Lets face it, ours is an unpopular occupation, and things will never truly settle until we vacate the place. It will probably result in substantial additional bloodshed, but how's that any different than what's taking place now? And the resultant prospect of terrorists swarming all over the world is just as improbable as the Commies taking over after the fall of Vietnam.. besides.. they are our "friends" now anyway.. as evidenced by China, Vietnam, etc.

  • Psychobabble nonsense

[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Wow! Talk about intellectual, paychobabble nonsense.. this writer takes the cake! Get a life ! I was an Edwards supporter.. now support Obama. Obama has been doing fantstic across the boards.. but periodic slip-ups and revelations are causing alot of 2nd thoughts and increased suspicions. Having a strange name with Hussein in the middle, plus Muslim ancestry causes questions. Not wearing a flag pin or having his hand over his heart during flag ceremony reinforces suspicions. Michelle's "pride " comment didn't help.. and Rev Wright is a downright disaster ! Rezco doesn't help, and Obama's poorly thought out San Fracisco comments are easily interpreted as put-downs. The fact that these things have not killed his campaign are an absolute miracle.. and I'm surprised and impressed by how most seem to be able to see above and beyond these issues. Obama may not win, but I have a new respect for the depth and wisdom of the average American voter. I wish I could say the same for the Clintons, and the media.

  • Toast

[Read the article: Wright's theology not "new or radical"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Because of the angry ego maniac Rev Wright, I believe Obama is toast..

  • Another Band-Aid Approach to Buy Votes

[Read the article: Obama is wrong about the gas tax]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I disagree with this article. A temporary federal tax reduction of 18 cents is essentially meaningless and a true ploy to buy votes. The price of gas is determined by supply and demand, those who bid on commodity futures due to world events, and the current value of the dollar. In the last 18 months, the price has skyrocketed on these factors alone.. many times the 18 cent proposed reduction. If people feel a sense of relief from this change, they will be freer with their summer driving habits, and push up demand as is typical this time of year. The prices will continue to rise with or without this proposal, and seem destined to reach $4 or even $5 a gallon soon. We need to change our past habits.. fewer trips into town, fewer long distance trips, sharing rides with others.. and the longer term approach of switching to (and demanding ) fuel efficient vehicles and getting serious about finding alternative sources of energy. Its time for America and the US Gov't to stop thinking of short-term, band-aid fixits and plan for the very real changes that we have to deal with as a result of so many other thriving economies ( China, India, Russia, Brazil to name a few ) competing with us for finite resources.
