What Obama said had nothing to do with the "real feelings' of PA workers. He was trying to psychoanalyze them in order to explain away what they *take to be* their real feelings (about faith, guns, etc.) in terms of economically-inspired bitterness. In other words, he doesn't case about their real feelings because these are just "false consciousness." I'm sure the limosine liberals in SanFran listening to him nodded sagely at his comments.
