Sometimes It Is Not What We Say, But How We Say It

The president has always taken abuse for his verbal clumsiness. His supporters say it means nothing, but his critics wonder how a mind that has such trouble expressing itself can possbily have the clarity he insists he has. This quote says it all:

"And how important it is, to have a set of principles from which you will not deviate, and, so that you can make good sound decisions. It is impossible I ... maybe not, but I think it's impossible for anybody to fully comprehend, you know, how much incoming there is into the Oval Office, and therefore it's important, to have a very orderly ... disciplined process, that enables people to come in and give you their opinion, in a timely fashion, so that there's enough data available for the president to deal with the problems in the world."

This disjointed, limp, marionette of a statement is supposed to mean that deeply held principles allow a president to sort through the complexities of decision-making and to fight off critics. He has had all his life to think through this philosophy, so why can't he just say it? Because his "principles" are not as robust and powerful as he thinks they are.

Disjointed words, disjointed mind.

With This Many Comments . . .

I doubt anyone will read this, but the boss-employee relationship is a 2-way street. This stuff about employees stealing credit from the boss is garbage. A boss's job is to manage employees. Employees should not have to manage their bosses. Sometimes it happens, I know, but if it does, the boss is the deficient one.

I guess what I am saying is if the boss has problems handling an employee with talent, this is the boss's fault and the employee needs to look for another boss.

This woman needs to find a mentor, someone who is unafraid of her abilities, and listen to him or her. Eventually mentor and disciple may be able to work together, but even if not, at least the advice and prospective would help.

Nevertheless, one should never take responsibility for the deficiencies of a boss. Just as bosses are always looking for good employees, good employess should always be on the lookout for good bosses.

The Crystal Ball

Doctors are always asked, "What is the chance of re-injury?" The answer is, it is not possible to know. No doctor can tell Peterson what will happen to his knee if he plays. It's all guesswork. There are probabilities, but medical probabilities are usually based on studies done on normal patients, not on a 220 pounder with 4.4 speed trying to cut on Astroturf (the biomedical equivalent of concrete).

If Peterson were a tennis player, I'd say, by all means, give it a try. If the knee hurts, forfeit the match. Very few tennis players have career ending knee injuries on the tennis court. But how many NFL players end their careers with a single step? Lots. New Orleans RB Deuce McAllister jumped up to catch a pass earlier this year and came down with a torn ACL. It happens as fast as that. Peterson holds the NFL record for most rushing yards in a single game. He will get another shot. He should sit until he is 100%.

Another poster asked why so many injuries. My theory is that it is steroids. Steroids cause rapid increase in muscle strength but the ligaments and tendons do not get stronger. The result is an athlete who has the strength to do things his joints cannot. Add to that the fact that steroids delay healing, and you get the injury problems not seen in the past.

About Lice

Lice are spread by close human contact. It has nothing whatsoever to do with cleanliness. Lice are usually spread through the sharing of personal effects, such as combs, pillows, or hats. One reason lice are less common today is because people no longer wear hats, and most people have their own bed (not always the case 200 years ago.)

You can wash your hair 10 times a day and will not get rid of lice. In fact, lice may prefer a clean scalp because fewer particles in the way means easier access to the skin for a blood meal.

The lice comment, in fact, proves most people are fooled about the importance of cleanliness. Daily washing does not prevent lice, and it does not prevent any other disease. Period.

The BCS Bid Has to Go to Notre Dame

Isn't it obvious? There are about 10 teams that can rightfully claim a place in the championship game. Choose any one of them and the other nine get screwed.

The fairest thing to do? Screw them all! If every eligible team gets the shaft, no one can claim to be unfairly treated. Poo for all!

So what we need is a perfectly undeserving candidate that will make every fan in the nation (except the beneficiary, of course) absolutely livid.

Yessiree, Notre Dame! Bring in the Irish!
