What's the problem? Can nobody recognize dystopias anymore, or has everyone gotten so precious and emotionally sensitive these days that they have to hide under the bed from them before they can get the point? Yes, the people at the Dollhouse are kind of likeable people sometimes. But even comics and cartoons rarely use Snidely Whiplash cackling villains anymore.
Seriously, am I just watching a totally different show from everyone else? The reviews I've read addressing the moral issues have just floored me with their total lack of sophistication.
Now please watch Kiwi at my signature link. Kiwi is fantastic.
Yelling: you can get mad without hollering like a fishwife. You might think it makes you sound big and intimidating. In reality it makes you sound like an out-of-control idiot. Leave a camcorder pointed at your kitchen or living room for a couple of days, then play it back to yourself and get a load of how you look and sound. Not like a rational, respectable person, I promise you.
Locking her out of her house: yes, it is HER house too. Figure out some way for her to have responsible supervision at home, make her come hang out at your work with you for a couple of hours after school, or make her get a job or some kind of after-school activity where you can confirm that she is there every day that no one is around to be home with her. Stick around on the weekends too, or take her places you're going. I do not understand why you think locking her out of the family home is a good idea. You have no idea where she might go and who she might be with, and you've taken away one safety net she might have if she wants to get away from a situation that makes her uncomfortable. Most irresponsible damned thing I ever heard. She's your kid, she has a right to the security of her own home.
That is, if we stay on the "market-driven" road we're on, all this life-extending, anti-aging healthcare will be accessible only to the wealthy. Death (from old age at least) would be for the poor, while the wealthy could live on and on and on.
That is a sickening thought. How much value does anyone think poor people will have in a world where they're wearing out, 2, 3, 4, or more times faster than their wealthier counterparts?
Does anyone else wonder (or should I even wonder?) if this is where Tina Fey got the idea for MILF Island?
I fear it may have been the other way around. Yes, someone was watching 30 Rock and when a MILF Island clip appeared, that someone said "hmm, you know, this isn't a bad idea at all!" I think I may be sick.
Wonderful review though, as usual.
I hope you've realized by now how funny this is. This woman could have just tossed to stick into her own trash, yet she went to all the trouble to walk the stupid thing 4 houses away to prove some petty point. What a nut! And she pulled you in! Please take the high road. It's for your own sake, not hers. You don't want to be the kind of miserable human being that takes a simple stick and blows it up into That Evil Stick Which Clutters the Yard of My Soul, right? What a horrible life. Throw the stupid thing away and be glad you don't have to be her.
