Clinton won a very important battle back in the nineties

He waged a vicious propaganda war against marijuana that increased the number of people arrested for marijuana crimes every year from 250,000 to 750,000.

He was so successful in his propaganda war that now when more and more evidence is emerging through science that THC is an anti-carcinogen and marijuana users are getting less cancer than non-users, the media are just plain refusing to inform people about that science.

The fear and ignorance that Clinton helped create about marijuana is persisting even in the face of large population studies that debunk it all completely.

One has to consider this his biggest success.

But Salon triangulates too -- that's why none of this debunking gets covered here either.

So I really don't know what the hell you're complaining about.

If triangulation is good for drug policy, then why is it bad when applied to gay rights?

When drug users get raped in prison

Nobody cares. People just decide they deserved it.

That's why you NEVER cover American prisoner abuse issues in Salon.

Because you believe they deserve it.

Excellent point, Joe

Shame on those American pseudo-conservatives!

If Churchill could back socialized medicine while warning the world about Communism, then American pseudo-conservatives are left without much of a defense.

Besides, it was conservatives who decided that the government should be in charge of drug policy.

If socialism is good enough for drug policy, then why not health care too?

Oh shoot I forgot something

Salon is the place where nobody gives a crap about men being raped in prison, unless those men are accused terrorists, and the prison is in a foreign country.

Sorry, my bad.

Boycott Marriott, but never forget Duke

A good woman jumped by a gun-wielding stranger is one thing, but a woman who merely claims she didn't consent to sex, well, that's a different story! Except it's not.

Um, but it is, because then we have to reply on one person's testimony against another, and you need a little more evidence than that to send someone to prison, because that's a very serious thing to do to another person.

Being sent to prison is even worse than being raped, because your control over your body is lost for years, not just minutes or hours.

So you really need to be absolutely sure that the person being accused REALLY deserves to go there.

You're giving them a load of trauma that they're never going to be able to heal from, ever, if they turn out to be innocent.

I think women should boycott Marriott over their outrageous so-called defense. They deserve to be driven out of business.

How can any customer feel safe and secure after this?

I also think we should keep Duke in mind because some women do make rape accusations for dodgy reasons, as we learned in the Duke case, where she was just plain mentally ill and the alleged sex never even happened.

And if you want rant on and on about "rape culture" -- well, what about all the men being raped in prison?

Wouldn't that be ironic -- for a man who was falsely accused of being a rapist to end up being raped repeatedly every single night for 20 years in prison?

What do you think about that possibility, Kate?

Is that something you ever worry might happen to a man?

IF you decide to get married

then sign up for couples financial counseling first, because the kind of disagreements you're having now could lead to divorce down the line.

Other than that, if you're not actively looking for a life partner, then enjoy what you have now in the moment.

These lies have to be fought very aggressively or they will take hold permanently

Look at how many people still believe the outrageous bullcrap that the Clinton administration put out about marijuana back in the nineties.

People were so convinced by that bullshit that by now the media won't even COVER a large population study that finds "substantially reduced" head and neck cancer risk among long term users of marijuana.

These current right wing health care lies sound unbelievable but lies like this can stick and it can take years and years to debunk them once they take hold.

People can end up so deeply invested in these kinds of fear-mongering lies that they'll refuse to let go of them no matter how much evidence you throw up to debunk them.

I think I'll go give Obama some more money so he can fight them harder.

Your doctor should be checking you for cankles once a year

My doctor does, because puffy ankles are a sign that my autoimmune condition could be going out of remission.

I needed a good belly laugh today Tracy

Compare this

There are so very many ways to offend at the swimming pool, most of them having to do with revealing too much skin -- I'm looking at you, Mr. Micro-Trunks

with this

As Christophe Granger, author of a book about the cultural history of French beaches, told the Guardian, it's become "less about women feeling at ease and free" and more about "the harsh cult of the body beautiful, where no imperfection is tolerated."

Tracy, you should sell jokes to Conan O'Brien, because this setup is funnier than any joke he's told all week.

It's pretty sad but sadly expected

The right is treating end of life care just like the Clinton administration treated marijuana.

Fear mongering and lying are part of the rules now.

Democrats who agreed to live by those rules when they applied to drug policy are now getting a taste of life on the other side.

Hope y'all don't get too stressed out.

Exercise helps a lot.

But don't count on the liars to feel shame.
