Bwa ha ha! Thanks, Anonymous, for capturing the essence of this lunatic debate and giving me a good, long laugh.
Why does this woman still have a job ... at the New York Times, no less? She seldom offers anything of substance; her columns are little more than journalistic raspberries. And her humor ... well, let's just say that she's at her best when Stephen Colbert does it for her. I don't know why she hasn't been shown up for what she is ... the left's version of Anne Coulter. Hot fluff.
In 50 years, I think school children will learn about Rush Limbaugh with the same horror and revulsion that we learned about McCarthy. Aside from murderers and other violent criminals, I truly think he is one of the worst human beings America has created, certainly in my lifetime. Why we don't see him -- as a nation -- that way already is a sad mystery.
GO HILLARY, GO!
You want a smolderin' hot rockstar, forget that Spoon boy and go for Marah's frontman, Dave Bielanko. Listen to that guy croon "Fly Me to the Moon" and just try to tell me your heart doesn't melt. Watch him kick and holler "Christian Street" and just try to tell me your heart doesn't leap.
Also for next year's consideration, Alan Rickman - sigh! - and Tommy Lee Jones. When I saw "In the Vally of Elah," I was floored by the fact that he gets hotter as he gets older. How is that possible with those ears? And yet, too true.
After 10 years in the rescue business, I feel confident that I could beat rescue worker horror stories with adopter horror stories 3 to 1.
Let's see ... starting with Bill Frist adopting cats from a shelter and then dissecting them. Anybody remember that?
But rather than the all-too-familiar demonization that characterizes all public "debate" these days, why don't we just slow down and realize that we are all human, we all have our faults. Yes, there are over-zealous rescue workers and yes, there are cruel and negligent adopters. Is this new? To anyone?

This former Minnesotan can't wait to get home for the holidays. Thanks, Mr. Keillor, for the little preview of what I know is to come. A timely reminder.
Very truly yours,
An absurdly self-conscious, haunted, guilty, humiliated freak
