...how many tickets this fool sells, he's not funny or smart or interesting or talented. But that doesn't matter--he's George W. Bush, as a previous poster pointed out. Too bad the joke's always on us.
If this pablum is considered dangerous, no wonder Dubya hasn't been impeached yet.
And if this kind of lousy criticism is considered worth publishing, no wonder Camille Paglia hasn't been canned from Salon yet.
The best have lost all conviction and the worst are center stage.
Two alter kakers for the price of one.
Sounds like a bumper sticker to me
........and she's already third rate.
Come on Salon, raise the bar. And then spank Gary with it.
What's going on here? Is this "All Palin All the Time" supposed to be journalism, or is it just enabling America's tabloid addiction?
Your overheated coverage of Palin is as cynical and opportunistic as McCain's choice of her as a running mate.
"Sarah Palin is no wilting flower. She is a politician who took the national stage and sneered at the work of community activists. She boldly tries to pass off incuriosity and lassitude as regular-people qualities, thereby doing a disservice to all those Americans who also work two jobs and do not come from families that hand out passports and backpacking trips, yet still manage to pick up a paper and read about their government and seek out experience and knowledge."
You brought tears to my eyes, Anne Lamott.
Indeed, where is Molly when we need her? And Ann Richards for that matter? The faux populism, and faux feminism--the faux everything--of Sarah Palin is enough to make me think I'm seeing one of the Sims up there instead of a real person no matter how arrogant, ignorant and mean spirited.
I miss those good old gals who were real in every way...and not afraid to speak to truth. Thanks for the reminder.
You all are much too articulate!
Moosealini! LOL
...to the Open Salon cross post.
I think many of us felt as if we were holding a small flag on a stick...awed, exhilarated and so much younger than we felt a year ago!
The mood in my neighborhood of Greenwich Village was a thrilling reminder of the good old days...and a rush of hope for the dawn of a new era!
Thank you for writing about it so well.
Another poorly written piece by a boomer bashing thirty-something fashionably decked out in fuzzy logic.
