[Read the article: Five years of Iraq lies]

There are lies, and there are lies. Some people choose to support lies because it allows them the out of plausible deniability. For example, in reality most Americans were aware that Iraq was not involved with the attacks of 9/11. However, most Americans wanted revenge against anyone who spoke an Arabic language or had a dark skin and lived in a desert. There was a typical American bloodlust that needed to be satisfied. Thus by choosing to “believe” and support a lie, they were given the cloak of deniability and could claim a suitable morality. What they really wanted was the self satisfaction that came from killing anyone or any symbol that confused their sense of self-worth and invincibility.

This country is full of a majority of citizens who are intellectually lazy and intellectually crude and morally amoral. They will not invest the effort to become self sufficient or self realizable. They would rather be led by demagogues who falsely praise their courage, patriotism, and intelligence, while they stare from their obese televisions, themselves becoming more obese in girth, prejudice, and sloth.

After analyzing Mr. John McCain’s speech, one comes to the conclusion that McCain was running for the 2008 presidency back in 2003; toe the party line, glorify America, praise the courage and love of liberty that only an American can experience. And last but not least, show the American people the courage he possesses by being willing to send thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis to their death, all based on the wisdom and leadership exposed by his President. To do otherwise would be un-American.

I certainly agree with the context of Mr. Kamiya’s article, as would any person who has studied the history of the United States, especially its covert and overt foreign policies of the past 50 years.

There is no Ronald Reagan America, except in celluloid and computer bits. The country has become so large in population, with so many different and battling niches, that it can never duplicate the patriotism that helped form this country almost 250 years ago. But those who would control, control with guilt, which was one of the founding philosophies of this country. We perform treasonous acts if we do not succumb to those who show us how to think, if we do not make their agenda ours. So sad that we waste our time with such trivialities. We are told to behold the glory of freedom while not ever having the chance to experience it.

  • Capitalism at its worse.

From my studies, much of Wall Street is built on a foundation of cards. Many of today’s money making instruments are simply paper shuffles. But eventually the paper shuffling has nowhere to go, ending up as a Ponzi scheme.

And though no one may believe the following, government mandated reporting requirements and statistical analysis have changed drastically in the last 7 years. Comparing today’s numbers against numbers from 10 years ago is a meaningless endeavor, except to hide the financial disaster that is already here. Things appear fairly stable, but that is only because the data is skewed.

If an administration comes into power in the next year that is not tied to the current Bush administration, they will be facing a crisis that they had no idea existed. As stated in the article, the current money making mantra is: squeeze any money out of any source, even if the source gets destroyed, because we will be covered by a bailout, and to hell with anyone else. The future is now and there is no accountability.

Today’s great problem solvers in Washington work in the following manner.

Problem: Cars are polluting too much. The pollution has reached 92% on the pollution index.

Solution: Increase the top limit of the pollution index. All of a sudden, pollution that was measured at a 92% rank (in relation to the top limit), is now at a 71% rank. Then pronounce how well pollution is being controlled by the forward looking administration.

Part of what Obama is saying about rural Americans may be true; they do feel they are left behind. But perhaps they have the common sense to know that empty slogans pronounced by another round of political hopefuls will not better their lives. They know that economic issues define their living conditions. But they also know that the big city corporations have no sympathy for their plight. The corporations, through their politically aspirant mouthpieces, have fooled the countryside people too many times for the rural folks to believe anything that emanates from their gold thirsty mouths. Then, as anyone with common sense will do, they grasp to single issues that may actually be adjusted to reflect their desires.

Someone like Obama posturing about hope and bipartisanship, without having a track record to demonstrate real-world success related to such posturing, is just another of the carpetbaggers who slinks into town trying to sell band instruments to the hopeful, only to leave once all the money and hopes have been siphoned from the locals.
