Sickening

I am getting a sickening feeling. And beginning to feel we've been fooled again. Wow, I had so much hope in Obama's and the Democrats message of change. If Obama doesn't ban torture in all areas of govt.; CIA, Army , etc. on his first day or week in office I will be very angry.

Finally the truth

Thank you so much Mr. Greenwald. Finally a major columnist in America has the courage to criticize Israel. I get so mad and feel so powerless about what is happening to the Palestinians, especially those in the Gaza strip, which is truly a giant prison. I hope more Americans will have empathy for the massive suffering in Gaza. It's beginning to look like Israel wants to ethnically cleanse the occupied territories for the expansion of the settlers and Greater Israel.

You are a light in the darkness

I have been so depressed hearing even the liberal press use AIPAC talking points. Even Rachel Maddow! I almost cried out: "This massacre must be condemned!"

Thank you so much for your voice of decency.

The tide of public opinion is turning

Thanks to the atrocious behavior of Israel and to the brave journalists like Glen

I can see and feel public opinion changing here in the US. I believe there is much more sympathy for the Palestinian cause then ever before.

There have been tens of thousands of people demonstrating across the country since the Gaza massacre started and the blogosphere has been electric with anger and outrage at it.

Remember there will be a hopefully huge demonstration in Washington and other parts of the country tomorrow (saturday). Everyone who can make it should go.

I've become a devoted reader

of yours Glenn. I've read you off and on until the Israeli bombardment of Gaza.

Now I read every article that you post. Your erudition is remarkable and the quantity of material is awesome.

I wish you would be invited to be on Keith O. or Rachel M.'s show. Maybe you'll be invited to be on Bill Maher's show when it starts again. We really need your point of view out there.

By the way did you see The Daily Show a few days ago? He majorly criticized Israel for the invasion. This is HUGE since he has always been a big supporter of

Israel.

Maybe the times they are a-changing!

Time for an anti-torture march on Washington

Thank you so much Joan for your excellent article. I am so haunted and disgusted with all the torture that was going on that I can't sleep at night.

I know that I am not alone. I see more and more people in the blogosphere speaking up about it.

It is clear that President Obama will need to be pushed into prosecuting these war criminals. If we had a demonstration for justice I think we would put those tea-baggers to shame. I would be there in my wheel chair.

Immunity

I was getting pretty optimistic about getting these torturers brought to justice. It seemed like the momentum was going in that direction. But now Obama, Pelosi, Reid and other top democrats come out against a congressional investigation; it sure looks like they are trying to stop that momentum.

We all have to just keep pushing for justice, putting pressure on these leaders, some of whom are complicit in Bush's torture regime. Maybe the DOJ should offer these congressional leaders immunity. Then they might cooperate and agree to an investigation.

The startling Ms. Paglia

Although I seldom agree with Ms. Paglia, I always find her entertaining in a startling kind of way. When I see she has an article, it's the first one I go to in Salon. Her eccentricities are sometimes hilarious but always thought provoking.

All the people who are calling for Salon to get rid of her are a bunch of sour pusses and spoil sports.

These guys have been tortured.

These guys have been tortured and imprisoned for years without trial, separated from their families and loved ones. But they are the Others and not like us so many Americans just "keep walking by".

My God, am I the only one who thinks they have been punished enough?

Now they are to be sent to maximum security prisons here indefinitely. This should make everyone sick to their stomach.

What's with Obama? He's caving a whole lot lately.

The B word

I can't stand Hillary. She is just pushing the neo con agenda. But saying the B word gets my hackles up. To me it is equivalent to the N word.

Torture still going on?

I've read on a few liberal blogs say "at least Obama has ended torture". I wonder what proof we have of this. After all I haven't heard of any mass firings of any torturers. I assume that most of them are still on the job. Sadism is an addiction and these guys undoubtedly have it. Perhaps it has lessened to a degree but I'll bet it still happens. For instance, what about the big prison in Afghanistan, Bagram, where they aren't allowed any council or human rights groups in?

A new Ralph Nader

I had an epiphany reading this post; You, Glen, are the new Ralph Nader. I have a huge amount of affection for Ralph, but he is now over 70 and I'm sure that he unfortunately is not as vigorous as he once was. Glen, how about taking up the mantel? God knows we need an incorruptible, energetic champion. I know you have the energy writing these awesome columns almost every day!

A nation of sadists and sociopaths?

I hope these slithering trolls posting here don't represent more than a tiny minority of Americans. Otherwise we have become a nation of cowards and sadists, and sociopaths.

Oh, maybe they just think it's OK to torture foreigners with brown skin, in which case add racist pigs to that list.

They make me want to vomit.
