It is a variation of "with whom would you like to share a desert island?" In the modern times, "come to the bunker with me or Obama?". Oh, please! This is a Cheney trick and it works if you prefer to hide from the truth. By the way, other than the Rose law firm records, being with Bill Clinton on a ride upward, hiding 100k in special gifts and investments, holding a seat as a democrat on the WalMart board and lording over the sorry state of Arkansas, what special experience does she bring to dealing with a world going to chaos?
This is her strength - she can sustain herself in difficult situations. Well..it is a needed quality from whatever source.
Joan;
Your comment tonite on Hardball on the deepness of Clinton strength in California counselled me. As an Easterner, it always struck me that change like the weather came from the Pacific. This time you imply that we should not confuse a newer version of the recent past for fundamental change when we consider the dynamics of a westerly wind.
Bill
Think sun screen is more likely to protect from burn but not the sun's ability to cause skin damage.
That said, your daughter will not see life through the same value screen. Which is okay, Hillary can not see thru Obama's perspective either. Obama has no need to see thru her's either.
Joan;
I am on a personal sabatical from eight years of weekly volunteer work in Newark at a soup kitchen operated by the Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa's). Over the years I have come to know a group that comes every Saturday morning for a few moments of peace and a very good hot meal. I have grown tired there watching people age with a hopelessness and anger for which violence, alcohol and drugs provide. Generations of the abused, women and children, come there with a well develop ability to work entitlement and guilt to peal away a little more than anyone else. In eight years, I can count on my hands the number of those who have climbed out. Once when a knife welding fight broke out, I called 911 with no response and as it grew worse a sister pulled me aside warning me that if I intervene I would be killed. She then walked in between the two men who put away their knives and left to fight elsewhere.
I find myself here in New Jersey with a feeling no different that one I had in Baghdad as an adviser years ago in Baghdad with the CPA.
We have a tendency to outsource areas of derelicition to other's who are cheaper than our government. The worst in communities are now handled by "faith". It provides them very little and can not give the mimimun demanded by St James in his epistle. Indian nuns in Newark and Islamic death squads in Baghdad are our criteria for success - all while slums and gangs and distress grows.
There is a fundamental failure that enables "another San Francisco tragedy" - it is the failure of a society to establish a government that provides the order and protects people so they may go about their lives in an environment that encourages civility. As we continually experience we don't all share the St James's demand to provide more than a 'Go in peace..wish.
Joan;
Since you asked...CitiGroup goes on to become the biggest colapses and possibly the biggest preditor in the subprime mess. Other Goldmans, Morgans, Merrills are following in the events that rendered suffering to the women's room. Then I think of Reubens, Robert that is, a trusted adviser to the Clinton's and the Preditor's, who sits as a caretaker Vice among the horde. Is there a reason that Wall Street, Greenwich and Uppersides of Manhattan that push money in to the Clinton et al coffers are given such a free pass? Is this not on the editor's horizon? Is it on the publisher's "for official use only" list not to be shared with the voting wogs?
Voter suppression as evidenced in Nevada by the Clinton has been a traditional "capitalist tool" used by republicans.
There she was in her yellow suit speaking behind a plastic face as Laura would do in chat to downplay someone's comment.
When the Clintons go down in the mud as they are want to do when under cover or pressure, they create a negative backwash against those that support them. They move on leaving the wreckage from the last lillypad for their followers be they did in Arkansas or the White House.
Racism as an issue should be applied to the Clinton's indifference to the carnage in Africa which peaked during their term.
I just an afraid that they will put us in another cycle of them in and followed by an administration distructive another angry fringe as a backlash to their antics.
We in the Democratic Party need the courage to leave them in New York where they can buy back their souls by really helping Harlem and not just use it a place for an office in the manner of Little Rock. (How far down is Arkansas in matters of health or education? Or income and its distribution?)
They should look again about where they have capitalized before they start the slum lord cry.
Those who go forward with Barak Obama or those who say well maybe I should just hang back with Hillary..
