  • Lieberman

[Read the article: Those who want Joe Lieberman to remain a Democrat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I just keep looking for evidence as to whether or not Connecticut Democrats are attempting to do something about this.

I saw him lie to citizens of Connecticut and the rest of America while he was running in 2006. Basically he said, "I am not a Bushee." There must be some sort of recall procedure available to the voters and I cannot imagine that when he switches to the RP in January, Connecticut Dems are not going to do anything about it. Meanwhile, Reid and other Senate Dems are not stupid. They will approach the matter tactfully. Regardless of party affiliation, on many domestic issues, Lieberman's history is that of a liberal. It looks to me via Fivethirtyfive, Gallup and other pollsters, that the Dems should end up with 56 senators and that great friend from Vermont. That means that the dems will have to shag at least three other senators to beat cloister and get hundreds of judges appointed, important legislation passed and deal with the great crises that we face. Reid knows that he cannot just throw a bucket of (holy water?) on Lieberman after the election.

  • Dyson Interview

[Read the article: "There's an awful tough tightrope for Obama to walk"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This interview is something I have been looking for during the waning days of this campaign. Dyson is one of the most interesting men to come along in decades. I see him on C-Span selling his books, I see him on cable news as a pundit and I wish I could see more of him. Every time someone from the Right appears as a pundit attacking so-called "antiAmerican" Americans, I wish Dyson were there to lay down the law. He is a busy man. He is sometimes categorized as an opposite force to Cosby, but I think Dyson has a lot of respect for old Bill. I surmised from the interview that the Black Intelligensia is going to cut President Obama some slack, but people like Dyson will never sit quietly on the sidelines. Dyson is upbeat about an Obama Presidency. And so am I.

  • My Lord, I feel something is happening

[Read the article: "My Lord, I feel something is happening"]

We say Amen because it was an honorary for pharaohs 5,000 years ago. We attend church on Sunday, because in our Jungian subconscious, we honor the Sun. We celebrate Christmas on December 25th, because it was the date of the honorarium for a forgotten pagan god. But, I must confess, I feel the spiritual tonight and I agree that there is something in the air, something in the heavens greater than myself. Without the spiritual, there could never have been the transformation of the country brought on by the Civil Rights Movement. The critics of Obama have lambasted him for being a great orator. Without oration, there never would have been a President Lincoln. They say without a good speech, Obama would be nowhere. Without a good speech, there never could have been a President Roosevelt. The concept of hope itself, is spiritual in nature. As an agnostic, I have no problem in saying "God bless America."

  • Fairness in Media Coverage

[Read the article: Predictions and other election matters]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Greenwald is right. On the specific reference to digs against media coverage, I have been sick of right wing attacks on the so-called "Media" for four decades. It all started when CBS and NBC and ABC showed racist police hosing down "radical" civil rights activists. Confederate racists attacked the liberal media for undressing the South. Today, tens of millions of people listen to Rush, Hannity and Savage every single day. Fox has won the ratings war on cable for years. Swift Boaters are still writing lies. When you do not like the message, kill the messenger. This is the first time in forty years that I believe my side is going to win. And the win will not be because both sides were not give a chance to get their say in.

  • Joan Walsh

[Read the article: Help me make it through the (day and) night ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

There are times, while I watch cable news, that I am elated to see Joan as a guest commentator. I didn't realize that she was on this blog until recently. Keep up the good work!

  • Andrew O

[Read the article: I watched Fox News for five hours last night]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I was on the same channel with Andrew. I was hoping for weeping and gnashing of teeth. It was fun and I still do not know what card checking is either. I watched them two years ago while they fumbled and declared Democrat winners days after the fact. I cannot help it. I had to watch Fox eat it. By the by, I was impressed by Juan also. It is just hard to empathize with this man who defends the company that gives him a paycheck every chance he gets. Hume sucks and has always sucked.

  • SCANDALS

[Read the article: Equating Clinton's "scandals" with Bush's]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Glenn hits the nail on the head with her analysis and in the coffin of the Bush/Cheney tyranny. Representative Hyde admitted that the Impeachment Proceedings were wrong and that they represented "payback" for what the Dems did to Nixon. Lawyers for B/C manufactured bogus legal theories out of thin air as a basis for torture, internment camps, use of foreign internment camps, avoidance of international law (that the US helped create over the last century), as well as refusal to obey lawful subpoenas issued by the Judicial and Legislative Branches of Government. Millions of pages discussing all these issues have already been published and no one has been disciplined for their role in creating the theories or participating directly in the crimes. Dowd gets carried away with her "elite wit" as do others improperly labeled liberals or progressives. When BJ's are lumped together with war crimes, citizens become confused. Clinton and his crew paid dearly for misdemeanors and Bush/Cheney are getting off scott free for felonies.
