Get Over Yourself, Whitecat

That wasn't a death threat, just an observation... and Ghandi's legacy was a mixed blessing. Yes, he won independence, but he also got partition and the extreme polarization of Hindu/Muslim communities in India itself. He also got killed for his pains. And the party that he left behind became one of the most corrupt and despised in all of India.

@gagamac

I was one of those Obama supporters, too - I thought an Obama/Hilary ticket would be unbeatable. But I suspect that it's more about Bill than it's about Hillary. After all, how could Obama successfully run his own Presidency with Bill Clinton overshadowing him in the White House? Sometimes it's best to make a clean break with the past.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 09:16 AM

@jeb

Ok, whatever... enjoy being a "bad girl" when John McCain wins. Obviously it's not about winning elections for you, it's all about "acting out". Ask yourself how well that worked for the anti-war Dems in '68? They had the same attitude as you did and they helped elect Nixon and prolong the war for four more years. Good grief - there is no reasoning with some people.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 09:20 AM

One more thing...

If you're a feminist, shouldn't you be more concerned that McCain called his own wife a cunt and offered her up to go topless for a bunch of bikers?

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 09:22 AM

I supported Hillary until...

... she lied about being under fire in Bosnia. Seriously. Why would she do something that stupid? Why would she make up something that crazy that the GOP could use against her endlessly?

Sorry, kids, but that's when I lost alot of respect for her and switched my support to Obama, and I'm not the only one.

Thanks again for your vote, sweetie.

PUMAs are Republicans

End of story. Don't believe the liars here who claim to be Dems. They never were and never will be. PUMA is a Republican front organization funded by the RNC. PUMA are the Swiftvets of 2008.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 12:26 PM

How come no Hillary supporters can address her lies about Bosnia?

Did it ever occur to these PUMA nutcases that what really cost Hillary the nomination was her inexplicable lies about being under fire in Bosnia? What possible purpose did that serve? I had actually supported her up to that point, but turned away in disgust partially because of that and her increasingly nasty tactics.

Can one of you PUMAettes actually address the fact that Hillary essentially destroyed her own campaign with an uncessary lie?

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 12:33 PM

WylieD

We're not ugly and dissmissive towards all of Clinton's backers - in fact, many of us were once Clinton supporters ourselves. We're only ugly and dismissive towards the Republican dupes and operatives who pose as Democrats in order to sow chaos in our party. PUMA is a Republican front organization funded by the RNC. PUMAettes are the swiftvets of 2008.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 01:24 PM

@Susan Sunflower

That's nice, but you're still either a Republican or a Republican stooge. Good luck with that.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 01:29 PM

Definition of a PUMA

Stooge:

–noun

1. an entertainer who feeds lines to the main comedian and usually serves as the butt of his or her jokes.

2. any underling, assistant, or accomplice.

–verb (used without object)

3. to act as a stooge.

Dupe:

–noun

1. a person who is easily deceived or fooled; gull.

2. a person who unquestioningly or unwittingly serves a cause or another person: a dupe of the opponents.

–verb (used with object)

3. to make a dupe of; deceive; delude; trick.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 01:32 PM

@Susan Sunflower

I don't read that blog but it's obvious to anybody that PUMA is a Republican front organization. Everybody except the few delusional Hillary holdouts who are being duped by the GOP.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 01:38 PM

What's the difference betweena PUMA and a Republican Campaign Operative?

Republican campaign operatives actually get paid.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 02:13 PM

@verycold

So basically, you're just another Republican trying to cause trouble between Democrats? Why should anyone here listen to you again?

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 02:14 PM

@nanance

Who said we're trying to win you over? You aren't Democrats and you never were. Stop pretending.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 02:22 PM

@Ben Sen

I think you're being generous to call them fools. The word I would use is RACISTS. When it comes right down to it, that's the only plausable explanation.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 07:25 PM

Ha! Is this thread still going on?

Wow. Work is over, the kids are in bed, the keynote speakers are doing their thing and the PUMAettes and the real Democrats are still at it tooth and nail? Too funny. I wonder what they'll do after Hillary herself tells them to get a grip?

Tuesday, August 26, 2008 07:27 PM

@Ben Sen

I agree - but Obama needs to fight smarter than Hillary did. Hillary could risk being called "shrill" but can Obama afford to be labeled an "angry black man"?

Wednesday, August 27, 2008 05:56 AM

@mickiesue

WTF did I ever do to you? How is it that you can slam PUMA but I can't? Also, how do you know what motivates me or if I'm representative of the run of the mill Obama supporter or not? Let's see, college educated, middle income, married, 2 kids, live in a Northeastern State... is that okay with you? Sorry if my anger and disgust with PUMA offends you, but, like you, I'm just responding to their absurdity and attacks with a little vitriol of my own. Like you said, everyone is entitled to their opinion...

Hillary slays PUMA

Hopefully Hillary has finally put the kaibosh on this nonsense.

... I was afraid it was going to be that totally cringeworthy "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuits" line that NPR seems to be using as it's big pull quote this morning... this is much, much better.

Hillary Is A Class Act

And I'm proud that she's my Senator.

Too bad some of her more deranged supporters can't take the hint and act more like her instead of falling for the Republican-sponsored PUMA nonsense.

@5designers5

When are you Republicans going to recognize that Bush was "selected" by a conservative Supreme Court and not elected by the people of the United States?

Friday, August 29, 2008 01:15 PM

No.

At first I thought Obama should have nominated Hillary, too, but the more I think about it, the more I can't get past two big negatives:

1. Republicans HATE her. Nominating Hill would definitely motivate some Con voters who might otherwise stay home.

2. Bill. Obama doesn't need Bill Clinton in the White House bigfooting all his decisions.

Also, on a more selfish level, I'm psyched to have Hillary back as my Senator.
