Rev. Jackson on Obama and Israel:

"He promised "fundamental changes" in US foreign policy - saying America must "heal wounds" it has caused to other nations, revive its alliances and apologize for the "arrogance of the Bush administration."

The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where "decades of putting Israel's interests first" would end.

Jackson believes that, although "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" remain strong, they'll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House.""

That would seem to make a vote for Obama a risky choice for those who value Israel. Are those who hold a special place in their hearts for Israel going to trust Obama given this news?

My dear pazure

I was inspired by William Shakespeare you ignorant provincial. Do not assume that I am as lacking in knowledge and education as you for I am not a victim of the U.S. public school system.

Why do you refer to "my VP nominee"? Did I not clearly state in plain English that both candidates did not meet my standards? Is my prose incomprehensible to you? Is English not your native tongue? At what point have I ever said that I should vote for either McCain, Palin, Obama or Biden? Do you take me for an ignorant fool and rube as most of your fellow countrymen are?

I am an adult. I do not believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Great Pumpkin, or politicians. I do not expect presents, chocolate eggs, or bags of candy after this election. I expect calamity, panic, plagues, riots, war, earthquakes, cyclones and floods, and that my dear pazure, is merely the calm before the storm.

Go ahead and vote for the liar who tells you what you wish to hear, be it Obama or McCain.

This may not be Denmark and Hamlet may not be King, yet it is undeniable,

My dear pazure

It is Heidegger not Heidigger.

If you are going to refer to some obscure and abhorrent Nazi philosopher to support your contentions and arguments you shall be far more impressive and convincing if you manage to spell their name correctly.

You might as well have spelled "Hitler" as "Hitlir" of "Hetler" and such would only be acceptable in polite society if it were done by Mel Brooks and none other.

I do not consider you to be an equal to the great Mel Brooks.

As for "dasein", if you cannot say it in English, you probably do not know what it means but

I suspect it has nothing to do with Baba Ram Dass's "Be Here Now" or the delightful Peter Sellars movie about Chauncy Gardner.

So, what do you think of Rudolph Steiner?

I pity the vole!

My dear Graz65,

While you did not find Mr. Keillor's words worthy of comment, mine amused you well enough to make your post. That speaks volumes.

You obviously are a person of taste, humor and intelligence. What the hell are you doing posting here? Sometime I may ask myself the same question. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous - hey, isn't that preceded by "To be or not to be?"

DASEIN!

My dear radioguy,

"So I'll ask you. Which of the two candidates up for election here seems to be the more rational one?"

You obviously have been trained as a high pressure land salesman. So have I. Wanna buy a lot?

Obama and McCain both voted to hand over 700 billion dollars to loan sharks, bad debt peddlers, and crooks.

Obama and McCain both want to go after the elusive "Al Qaeda" at the cost of more lives, resources, money and national reputation.

Obama and McCain both want to threaten and attack Iran in order to prevent them from having nuclear power and technology.

I would say that they are equally rational or insane depending upon whether or not you like War and Wall Street.

You know there are some really sweet deals on waterfront property in New Orleans. How about it?

My dear jbgorsky,

I was unaware that the other Salon writers were fundamentally any different than this one, with the notable exception of Paglia and Kaufman who evidently are immune from the Salon malaise.

The seminal works of Larry, Curly and Moe required the participation of persons who were not stooges. Ah, to see the expressions on their faces as they peruse the work of their colleagues - that would be a grand entertainment.

My dear bunztogo,

You must have some remarkable tales of your experiences in the Spanish American War. Did you serve under Teddy Roosevelt? He was a fine president in my opinion. Thank you and your fellow veterans for the Phillipines and Guantanamo Bay.
