Sociopaths

It's easy to see why so few serial killers successfully raise families of their own.

Oh, but they do, nearly all of them. The families are there in your churches and top schools. They’re not like Dexter though – their hands won’t ever get dirtied by a floor vote, signature on a deal, a yea or nay at the board meeting.

But then, this is the beauty – or the ugliness? – of "Dexter": After a while, you start to forget that the lead character is even a bad guy . . .

Of course you forget. How can they be bad guys, you just got a raise from one or voted them into power for fucksake! Their victims only count in those tedious Michael Moore films or to some wailing towelhead in one of those terrorist-breeding shithole countries New President is teaching a lesson to. And for the esteemed sociopaths running things, just as for Dexter, Family helps cover pathology with a cloak of normalcy and conformity.

I may never see an episode, but I like knowing there’s an allegory out there for our culture’s successful individual in business and politics.

My fear for world peace,

Mr. Greenwald, is that your divisive noting of the behaviors and policies of the distinguished Nobel Laureate and his administration as aligning with what would be expected from cowardly war crimes collaborators driven by criminal instincts could sully a carefully constructed sheen of sincerity and integrity. Perhaps you have not been made aware that this man of Faith and Peace, adorned by a beautiful Family, attends Worship Services? Your uncivil exposés tear at the very hem of a proud Nation’s self image.

Why does Heather

have to be hatin so much? I find older, assertive gals with a sense of humor and who talk straight about sex to be quite endearing, like the one linked to my sig.

Obama didn't deserve that laurel not because he is "untested" but because his hands are already drenched in blood.

When I become sic with despair

and weak with cynicism, I like to remember that there are smart, fresh Americans speaking out - yes on blogs and the internets - with bold ideas and hope for bold solutions to the human condition. Like the sincere young woman linked at my sig.

Little Brother,

that post actually exceeded the high levels of cogency, erudition, and deconstruction typically provided. I hope the professor gets it. As for most of the President’s supporters, I suspect all of this is not so much about what is right and true as it is what I would need to feel validated and defended.

Wait - charisma, popularity, and the ability to instill belief against evidence of deception and duplicity aren’t accomplishments?

Nicely put.

President

is adored by Americans and others the world over as an Intellectual, a Trusted Leader, and now a Man of Peace, and that says something !

That really does tell us something.

I’d like to see President get a gold coin too, for being clean and sober and working an honest program.

Anybody got a smoke?

President

said they are dangerous people who won’t do what we say. It was on the TV. What else does this Greenwald fellow need ?

Authenticity

In my tribe, my social standing has always improved when I adorn myself or my bower with something new and different, something from afar, something the others don’t have and can’t get. No slave of common instincts, I have the drive and means to acquire, and that says something !

“Forgiveness”

is not a therapeutic intervention, certainly not as related to trauma or abuse. It generally serves as a means to avoid the difficult work and growth that can provide therapeutic gains.

Dear Abby,

My tribe has a handsome king and council of lords, and it has warriors. To which should I cede my well being, my decisions, and the right to construct my reality?

Confused and frightened.

Mr. Greenwald,

please see comment of JKP1000. Among your many examples of impaired responses to the Russia/Georgia events, the stirring utterances of Your President are not to be found.

Simple oversight?

One must assume

that when Glenn rather clearly asserted that Our President’s stern claims of dangerous violations by Iran are belied by the facts, that Glenn was absolutely suggesting nothing more than that President likely misspoke, or has been unfortunately misinformed. Right?

Because . . . . . . . um . . . . . . . .

That was

pretty fucking solid. Mad men. Triple entendre. At the heart of the American Dream are dead souls. I like to watch it unravel.

Strong Families, Strong America

That’s what President says. And forgive and forget is what I always say. A little shame for the tattletale can reinforce that message and help keep a Family strong.

All this dirt on dysfunction and so-called “abuse” doesn’t exactly strengthen our Families and our Institutions of Faith and Marriage, now does it?

And that hurts America!

Ms. Clark-Flory is right.

It simply clouds thinking and elevates reactivity to attempt to distort as psychologically complex behavior as that described into one of two loaded constructs: rape versus consensual.

Saturday, September 19, 2009 11:58 AM

Ms. Walsh,

why does your harsh heart heap hate on the faith-based program Mr. Armey is workng?

He publically made amends. Like your New Leader, his gracious utterances profess a Deep Faith. What else could be needed?

@ Austintatious

Please re-read my post with snark, sarcasm, and parody detectors all turned to "on".

Bunk!

If there was any truth to that type of cynical, deceptive, manipulation of the public by President’s administration, that would make Our President a liar, and I read enough Salon to know that to the contrary, President is a handsome, audacious family man, Strong in his Faith, a constitutional scholar, who only wavers from greatness when Republicans force him to sway from the plans he has for Our Nation.
