Stand UP!

It's about time that progressives stop avoiding confrontation with these dreadful people (Coulter) and take them straight on. I think that avoiding the the debate on FOX NEWS was a big mistake. Elizabeth Edwards shows the guts that her husband needs to develop. Go on Rush. Go on Hannity. Show them for the cruel idiots that they are.

WHAT ABOUT MY HUMAN PRICE TAG?

Hey, wait just a minute! I am a life-long bleeding heart liberal, who has no more racism in my soul than any other human being - in fact, I think that "race" is a stupid concept. I also think that these immigration raids are absolutely essential. And yes, I am in the construction industry. For 30 years we have ran a small, but great company who gave great service, had great employees and accordingly, gave them great benefits, including fully paid health insurance and retirement. We followed all the rules, paid all our taxes and insurances on time. For the past five years, at least, we have struggled mightily to keep our heads above water, in great part due to cheap, immigrant labor. It was heart-breaking, to see all that we had worked for, for so long, slide away. And I don't care what country they are from. I used to feel sorry for them and the "plight" they were leaving in their own countries, but no more. They KNOW absolutely that they are breaking American law, when they are climbing over that fence or crossing that river or hiding in the back of a truck, usually done under the cover of night! These are NOT stupid people - they know exactly what they are doing. They have PLANNED this, like any other criminal endeavor. These guys work for whatever wage someone is willing to give them and in doing so, leave themselves open to cruel shysters, who know they have no legal options. But, they also have few expenses, usually no families locally to support. They don't license or insure their vehicles - they don't even have driver's licenses, from their home countries or the US! (If you have the bad luck to be involved in a traffic accident with one of these guys, first they will run, then they will lie, then, as a last resort will simply do nothing - because they know THAT is what the police will do - NOTHING! This is from personal experience.) I for one, have no problem with bi-lingual education, but one has to admit, it is costly. Who's paying for that, as well? US citizens and LEGAL alien workers pay the bill. Illegal immigrants pay no taxes (c'mon - let's admit it, once and for all), no health insurance, and increasingly, go to emergency rooms in county hospitals for medical care. Of course, I feel sad that innocent children are involved in this and that they will be displaced. But, somehow, we have to convince people that they MUST come to the US legally, or stay home, and maybe, just maybe, try to solve the problems in their own country that made them want to leave it. Wouldn't THAT be better for all involved?

I WILL say that any American who complains about illegal immigration, then ACCEPTS that bid for roofing or siding that is thousands of dollars under that of other competitors, should just keep their mouths the heck shut about this issue!

Original article: How Hillary could tank

Why do Progessives "eat their own"?

It's started. The Dems have a strong front-runner candidate, so it is time for progressives to start picking apart our own presumptive candidate. We did it to Gore, savaged by normally liberal-leaning writers and pundits. Look what we ended up with! We did it to Kerry, who was cautioned not to stand up for himself and certainly very few in the progressive press did, so...we ended up with disastrous Bush for another 4 years. Hillary is not prefect and ANY candidate can suffer a huge setback, but let's try not to add to the Republican hate-Hillary chorus, just because as always, we tend to overthink everything. And because we're already bored. Or we want to be terribly and creatively arch. It's too important this time. It will not take much more Republican government before we find oursleves goose-stepping into a demi-dictatorship.

I Don't Get It! I'm Angry!

I cannot understand the muted reaction to McCain tacit approval of Sen. Clinton being called a "b***h" by one of HIS supporters! (I am a Dem, but Mrs. Clinton is third or fourth on my list, so I'm NOT an angry supporter.) Male media types seem to be saying "big deal" with a shrug. (Howie Kurz should be asamed of himself. I'm ashamed of him.) Maybe because I'm a woman, I see it differently. I am pissed, both at McCain and at them! What if Sen. Obama had been referred to as a "n****r"? Would THAT have been worthy of a shrug and a wink? Bet not. Of course, Obama is a man. Turns out Hillary is not the one using the "gender card"!

THIS NEEDS MORE, NOT LESS MEDIA ATTENTION!!

I am STILL astounded by the LACK of attention this has received. Unlike some of the commentators here, I think we should hear more, much more about this. The problem is, as I am beginning to see, that most of the media commentators who are brushing this off are MEN! White men. Do you suppose thay would treat this a casually if the women had asked, "How do we beat the N****R?" The word she actually used is just as offensive to me, as a woman. McCain is toast with nearly every woman who heard his ungentlemanly acceptance of the use of the word, in his presence.

Shame on him and anyone else who shrugged this off. I'm sickened and I am not a big Clinton supporter.
