you've been trademarked "Greenwaldian"..
It's a good thing..
The problem as I see it--is that journalists are compromised by their own egos as being put in a slect group of "in the know" journalists.
-This is the result of the GW/Cheney "Ministry of truth"-cliquishness of "you're a cool kid-you're in-you're not-you're out"..
-The other is that I think people are too close to their sources--like Gregory at WH dinners..or getting to ride AF1-to be objective..
-They are swayed by the "shiny object"-which appeals to thier own egos..
Another point is that so many networks and writers-may cite the same source. many times these "source" have been labeled as an expert of some sort-but usually have partisan bents and favorable/same opinions of pundits,journalists...
I agree with ya about the whole KO/Dean thing..That is the danger of being enamored of so-called experts as your sources.
You don't even vet or question your own sources validity-just accept their 'expertness' becasue they say so..
But just as a stopped clock can be right twice a day-someone usually reliable can be wrong as well.
That brings me to Mac's problem..
One can lie, or misunderstand the truth..and it goes to the curiousity of the one wanting the info..
On that note-GW, Mac, Palin, Cheney-don't seem to have any curiousity about things--just about obtaining power and getting what they want (for corporate buds).
But when you are jsut outright INDIGNANT that anyone dares question them-on judgement....you know you got a lying problem..
Because they are lying to themselves, and lack any intellectual curiousity...to want to know the truth.
To me-truth only has one right answer.
To name things, people, places, situations-in thier MOST precise terms-is the way to that truth..
To surround your problem with chronic agreeable people-or so-called "experts"-only allows a simple problem to be farmed out to various groups to fight it out amongst themslevs (while the thief makes off with the loot).
It also allows a narrow-view-that shows any complex thought-process for casue-effect of actions..
(But then again I guess that's the purpose-and to have someone to blame).
I guess in a nutshell-what I am saying--is that it is up to everyone to think for themsleves-and not to be enamored, or egodriven-to find that singular truth and maintain objectivity.
But someone who becomes defensive-is indicative of a known lie.
For someone who spins-there may be a whiff of somehting credible -but it's up to you to ferret it out..
But truth-means calling something by its' exact name--by wheedling it down-asking questions "so is it this"? or is it this"?-and by having the basics of writing 101 answered: who, what, when, where, why, and how..in the most precise info as well.
Don't know why it's so hard.
I think selfish ego is a bigger part of the problem of all of it mainly.
sidebar; quick question not related to post.
how's Be-bop, GC?
I know he's was @ VA a mos ago.
How is he?
Miss him here.
Sending my best regards B.
Considering the fact that Palin has done nothing but read a prepared speech off a teleprompter does not a politician make.
Recanting it over "I said no-we'll do it ourselves"-doesn't make it any more believable either..
Especially with at least 3 news clippings, a pic of her holding "Bridge to Nowhere Alaska" T-shirt up, and a debate where she supported it(Gov)..
Jealous?
NO-not superficial like you.
Lying is not a quality I admire in people..
If it's superficial you like though-Mac & Palin are the perfect pull-string sloganeering candidates for ya..
I prefer more depth in intellectual acknowledgement, honesty of the totality of our countrys' problems, the 21st century, alternative energy, job creation...
And a divider who uses the 40yold divisive platform of guns, gays & religion to shove through lobbyist agendas (like Gramm, Big Oil,...)and voted with GW 90% of the time-is superficial.
on Countdown last night and it sickened me..
Don't recall where I had read about some other info about this bombing that refutes US claims about thier "mistake"--
that troops had just gone and searched the area the day beofre the bombing--and had found nothing (Taliban).
I do not like the military making such HUGE mistakes in my name as a US citizens..
Our military is only creating more danger to our own national security at home-with such careless, heartless, mass-murder of innocent civilians..
I understand war is not pretty..
But 60 of 90 people IS closer in definition to mass murder or genocide...than a bonafide-justifiable Taliban attack..
those who ordered should be courtmarshalled.
Mac's whole campaign with Palin reminds me of, think it was either Letterman or commercials-of the stolen garden gnome with various pics of travel throughout the world...
But then that's all Mac's entire campaign is about...posing, photo ops, pics with younger females around him...
It's a delusional campaign of hero self-worship.
Josh pointed out too-how Mac was ready to make a photop acceptance speech at a hurricane event that never materialized..
Then there was the Palin pic-photo-op the day after O's speech in front of 86,000 at Invesco...
A Garden gnome could not have done any better..
are/can be every bit as guilty under the law as blue collar ones.
This is class-warfare of elitists thinking themselves better equipped to make laws/run countries.
What they really want to do is to legalize thier illegal activities til a democracy is hijacked into a corporate fascist regime.
