you are so not funny.
How'd I get drug into this?
I'm just posting to other people interested in Bhutto.
Go to bed already.
You said you were... like, 3 pages ago!
I get back here and feel like I've walked into 5 guys watching a porn movie.
shut up already. enough.
your post made me laugh. I remember all those too.
I often wonder what happened to all of them-whether some 3rd world country is reliving the 70s' courtesy of the US of A.
I read the other day though, that the 87 Honda had gotten 50 mpg.
If they did it then-why not now?
Was the Maverick the car that looked similiar to a Comet.
My dad had one of those-it was hideous.
If a maverick looks like that-it's NOT a complement.
yep read the article on Conde. Also explains why not much media has been focused on the story.
Hi to Bop-glad you sound better--I don't know what "normal" sounds like for ya!
lol-kidding---I do.
Better soon.
later.
Don't know if you're lurking.
An interesting article in todays McClathchey news about more info coming out about Bhuttos' death.
Apparently "strang crowd" congregated in front her motorcade out of nowhere-she thought they were supporters and emerged from sunroof....

right now.
For those journalists that actually DO have some integrity and some honor left in the media, they could simply put on thier responsible Big Boy pants and as questions "on behalf of the public-for their right to know-and their eagle-scout badges too with a 'I'm asking of behalf of the pubic-whom we ahve a responsiblitiy to get all the info to...".
Despite what you think of Matthews-he does that.
He just needs to temper himself and not get overly aggressive/overly ego-inflated chasing his own tail in the process. He does tough questioning though-no one can say he does not. The problem for him is that he can get drawn off point and give into his own ego to take the bait.He also gets drawn into conversations not the least bit interesting to the public of his own "bravado' in knowing history.
Case in point night of NH primary:
LAAAWRENCE..LAWRENCE OF ARAAAABIA.....He Came to save the Tu-URKS! which was just a little bizarre and I don't know how Keith kept a straight face.(I've had the song in my head for days now---thanks Chris!)
But if more jounalists would realize they are there for the public-THEY would be a lot better for it. The suck-up routine is why the tubes are so popular.
DCLaw-on your points on Enlightenment. We are now in the age of computers and technology. Yet we get most of it from TV. Is there an age-gap by those not going to the nets-probably. But in this day and age of cheaper printers and computers...I don't see why it is not completely impossible to build some sort of "webnews" dispenser/machine that could list many thousand papers or blogs and print them out in vending-like fashion. Papers from around the world-papers that could give us an alternative view of the Gulf of Hormuz, or Caspian area,
foreign affairs, political candidates...
What is needed is competition in the msm field. What is needed is an alternate view to get that for those who don't know how to navigate the nets-or have the means. We also need alternatives for broadband. We can do that locally by fighting such Timewarner conglomerates at the local level as they try to impose restrictions on competition in thier areas, thereby keeping news concentrated and corrupted.
Keeping news concentrated has made us a more stupid nation for it(though the nets have saved some)-as people are being manipulated by govt. by playing the fear card. And you know society is in trouble to quote from a movie (The Day the Earth STood Still)when "fear replaces reason in people".
More competition-would make the msm take notice of who their bosses are(and it's not corporate).
I'm with Bill T. and Che on this-got my slippers on-goin for coffee.
later.
the Clintons have gotten just as much softball press coverage as McCain. I't s just that the Clintons, if the press does ask probing questions---either claims the questions or questioner are sexist or deflects the question to throw off on Barack Obama. Has Hil answered yet to why she authorized IWR, or not read the NIE? Has she answered to why she thought LBJ finished the job or was "needed" by MLK-to african Americans?
No, what you get are tears about how 'Hard" it's been for ther after losing the Iowa caucus, having very few weeks to prepare for NH. What you hear is the press is "mean" for turning away her bagel/muffin bribes after years of not giving interviews to the press...So shooter, yes I agree, the questions will be softballs.
It was disgusting what was done to McCain at K Roves' hands in SC. Perhaps that's why the press is giving him softballs-either the "establishment" of the GOP has already decided who they want the nominee to be-hence softball qustioning of said nominees. They know since the rest of the GOP field is wide-open and Romney and Guiliani are flops with the public-the Huck scares the hell out of them,so they give McCain the fluff treatment. The GOP has always been more like a monarchy in deciding thier candidates---in amount of ass-kissing to the blue-blood establishment/corporate powers that be(within the media who also have stakes in war-profitting)to family lineage.
Like racehorse breeders-they consider only thier own blood to be worthy of leading a country-or having the power. It galls them to think "little people" could actually ask intelligent questions or have priorities-or such questions are not important anyhow-it's THIER agenda that matters..
So "softball questions"? thats' not just random-it's by design.
